Mariette took a few nights to think over what Sir Bastien divulged to her on the matter of her younger sister's behavior and antics towards the knights who stood as protectors and guardians over the Deveraux princesses. Both agreed that approaching Juliette on the subject had to be done with considerably delicacy in order to make sufficient impact on the youngest Deveraux, but there were also aspects of which Sir Bastien was patently unaware that had to be incorporated accordingly. Some of what prompted Juliette's tendencies, Marie knew, was her well-hidden interest in the knight as a man, not merely a protector, but her sister was going about it all wrong.
She wanted to be sure she had a firm grasp on her understanding before she decided to call Jules's bluff and challenge her to grow up in turn. They were not little girls any more; they were young women who had duties and responsibilities to their family, to their lineage and to the Kingdom, not merely privileges. While Marie wasn't foolish enough to think that Juliette would accept the reality of the moment with anything approaching graciousness, much less rise to Antoinette's almost impossibly high standards, she also had faith that she would sufficiently drive the point home to compel the start of a change in Juliette.
Keeping that goal firmly in mind, she arranged for a tray of the sweets Juliette favored to be brought to her room, along with a pot of tea. Moving quietly once the servants delivered the items, Marie picked up her supplies and pattered into her sister's room without bothering to knock. The two youngest had few secrets from each other, after all. Putting the tray down, she flashed a smile at her sister before announcing, "We need to talk, Jules. Quite seriously."
