This list will be updated as new questions are posed, but please also check to see if your question may have already been answered.
- Do I have to start with an established House?
Yes. New players are not permitted to make their own houses until they have a minimum of 75 posts *or* have been active for two months. Starting with an established House allows new players a chance to see how we play, the pace and interact with other players.
- Do I have to use a real person for a PB?
We would prefer it. The PB does not have to be an actor, actress or model, but human's definitely required. Fine art is also acceptable, but no anime, cartoons, or Poser art, please.
- Can I be a staff member?
We are not currently in need of additional staff, but as the game grows, this may change. Stay tuned!
- Do I have to have an avatar on my OOC account?
No, but we do encourage it - avatars are a great way of expressing a player's personality, adding color and fun to the board. However, if you like the silhouette, that's cool too.
- Is this game a fantasy game or realistic?
It's some of both. The world is not real and neither are the countries, but the actions, speech and demeanors of the character should be realistic; the reactions of other characters will be realistic as well. Consequences of actions and words should also be realistic. For instance, if someone threatens to kill Princess Antoinette and Sir Bastien overhears this threat, realistically the character will be imprisoned. Being rude to someone of higher rank will result in other characters distancing themselves from that character. Treating someone of higher rank with great courtesy and respect could gain the character favor and friends. Everything has a consequence for good or for ill.
- Is there a minimum word count for posts?
No, we emphasize quality over quantity. Please just be sure that you give the other players in the thread something to respond to!
- How do I craft my own vassal house? What if I want to play a character that is a Duke?
Once you have reached your 75 minimum IC posts, we have created a How-To guide to help you in drafting your idea into a vassal house. Each new vassal house is subject to staff approval. When it comes to playing a Duke, this is strictly by staff invitation only. These roles are not open to application.
- Can my character die?
It is possible, but we prefer to do so with a player's consent though there may be times when it is inescapable. Those times will be exceedingly rare, however!
- Is this based on Game of Thrones? Are there elements like GoT, or is the society like GoT?
No. While we respect the legacy that George R.R. Martin has created, there is nothing here that was based on, borrowed from, or conceived from Game of Thrones.
- Can I play a Duke/Duchess?
Sorry, but no. Taking on a Ducal House here is a responsibility, one that is granted by Admin invitation only. If you would like to be considered, show us your stuff - help craft stories, recruit players, get involved, and be active!
- Can I plot to take the throne?
Yes... but understand that it will not be accomplished easily, swiftly or without a great deal of cunning, planning, scheming. Just saying you have an enormous army isn't going to work. You'll need to forge alliances with the other characters who lead the houses and persuade them that your character is the best choice. And that's merely the beginning. We will work with you, but we will not promise success.
- Can I play a gay/lesbian character?
Of course. While it was not widely accepted, let's face it - sex happens and characters, like people, can't help who they fall in love with or find sexually attractive.
- Can I play a commoner?
You can, but please be warned - unless you are playing a servant or a guard to one of the high-ranked characters, your character's not going to see a lot of action or involvement. This is a feudal society; there's not a lot of mixing between the classes.
