The coronation was fast approaching. Yes, of course, it was a few weeks away, but such a parcel of time would fly far quicker than anyone desired. Carlotta had a great deal to accomplish before then. Princess Nicolette’s dress had to be prepared, but she was not the only royal of concern. All of Nicolette’s sisters would be in attendance, as well as her cousins and other extended family members. Those particular members were frankly on their own. Carlotta’s chief concern was the immediate family.
Antoinette was no stranger to fashion, Carlotta knew. The woman was capable of looking her best no matter what the situation may be and, if allowed to do so, Antoinette could easily outshine Nicolette. However, for this event, that would have to be scaled back. Thus, Carlotta was left with the task of designing a dress that would suit Antoinette’s tastes while also not competing against Nicolette’s own gown. Fortunately, from what Carlotta had observed, Antoinette would not be difficult in this regard.
A message had been sent a few a days in advance so that Antoinette might find the best time to meet with her. The Lady in Waiting had taken the time to lay out several different fabrics in the waiting room, having cajoled Reed Gardiner in convincing a merchant to let her borrow all the samples he had. A variety of colors and fabrics were available. Indeed, it seemed like a veritable cloth rainbow. Also within the sitting room were refreshments available for the princess to enjoy at her leisure. Carlotta herself, standing with a tablet in hand, was sipping quietly at a cup of tea.
