Character Name: Sage Gardiner
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Birthdate: August 8, 1399
City / Region: Lockewood
House [ Birth, M/arriage if applicable]: Born Gardiner
Played by: Peyton List
Appearance:
Standing at 5’3 with her brown hair and blue eyes she would be easy to lose in a sea of people. She dresses comfortably as she desires. If she can get away with male clothing she would, but she knows she must at least attempt to look like a lady at times.
Personality:
Sage has her own sense of humor and shows it well. She doesn’t always get the jokes her siblings will tell, and that is fine with her. She didn’t ask them to explain as she learned the first couple of times that it is no longer funny after that.
She was a hard working gal who loved the forests. She would often get lost in the woods just learning about them. She loved to climb trees and just listen to the forest around her.
Sage wasn’t one to be messed with though. She does have a bit of a temper and will sometimes lose it if her siblings weren’t behaving properly. She didn’t lose it though if one of them pulled a prank on her. No she was more the type to get even with them.
Special Skills or Abilities
Herbs
Sewing
Archery
Tree climbing
Background:
Being born the eldest didn’t have any advantages. Sage was a girl so it didn’t matter that she was older or not. She was only one when her younger sibling was born. They grew up beside each other thick as thieves until they were ten. She couldn’t understand what happened to make the change, but she had a feeling it was his friends. Basil just didn’t want to hang around with his older sister any more.
Instead of being upset with him she found herself in the forest more and more on her own. Climbing trees was always a favorite pastime and it came in handy gathering fruits and nuts for the family. She would always return home with something tasty and sometimes a new pet. The pets were always ushered back to the forest with a resounding no. Eventually she gave up on those and only returned home with tasty treats, herbs, or flora and fauna.
Her younger sisters came along as well, but she wasn’t interested in trying to have relations with them considering how Basil had abandoned her like he had. When they were older her sisters would pester her until she realized being closer to them was a good thing. She made sure to spend some time with them, and would sometimes take them with her when going venturing into the woods. She would stay open to things they would want to do and they would wander to the streams to for them.
Medicine didn’t seem to interest her at first. She liked the idea of being able to treat someone if they were injured, but it took too much time away from her forest wanderings so she gave the idea up. She learned a few things from it, but not enough to consider herself in that line of work. Instead she would learn the herbs needed and bring them back for those interested in medicine.
Suitor time came and basically went. Nobody seemed interested in her, and she was okay with that. Her hands were full with what she was doing. It distressed her father and mother. She didn’t know how to make them okay with her being old enough to marry but not doing so. They seemed to want family, but she figured Basil would secure that for them. She didn’t envy him in the least bit considering this.
Writing Sample:
Sassy. There that word was again, and she couldn’t figure out why. She seemed to be the sassy forest girl. She understood the forest part having spent most if not all of her time there. That made sense, but where they got sassy she couldn’t understand it.
The forests where calm today. She loved that and was looking down and around hoping not to find any snakes this time. She hated it when she came across one, but then again she knew which trees had them and which didn’t. She had to learn to have an eye for that if she was going to climb them. It didn’t hurt to be up there eldest or not. At least that is what she thought.
Sage sat and thought over what she had heard still not understanding. How could anyone perceive her as sassy. Sure she had a temper. Not wanting to waste any more time on this she shook it from her head ready for the next task befallen to her. The house was short of acorns again.
