The letter arrives in Gilboa, late afternoon, bearing the seal of the Sandoval family, with a small alteration - a slash through the inkwell, a sign between friends that the missive is kindly sent - addressed to Lord Zorion Ibarra, Marquess of Estersea.
My dearest friend,
I hope this letter finds you well! It has been so long since I have had a chance to see you, and how I miss dear Kattalin. The winds are not blowing in my favor to return to Estersea in the near future - I miss it, more than I ought, truly.
My cousin is in the midst of intrigue. She has her eyes set upon a gentleman of upstanding nature - far too good for little Cela. And there was a duel, which I was unfortunate enough to miss out on, though the aftermath was quite entertaining.
In truth, I've nothing of import to report. Not in an official capacity.
Once more, however, I feel the censure of my family, being labeled the outcast. Rather than being included in the negotiations at Anzio, I am here, in Shelbourne. Yes, this is where the Royals reside at present, and much is happening, as I'm certain you surmise...though I cannot disregard the knowledge that there is much that occurred without my inclusion.
These are grave mistakes. I am no pawn, as you well know, and I resent being sent back and forth as if that is my role. The summers of ignorance have long been discarded, and I find myself longing for them.
I do not mean to come across in such an infantile manner, my friend, but this has been weighing heavy on me as of late. But I must now ask after you - has anything of import occurred? I do pay your health is faring well and you are making marks where you ought. The Kingdom pines for someone of your strength to uphold virtues lost, though you know my sentiments there.
Wishing all my best to you and your sister,
Zorion Ibarra
