The evening of the attack was something of a blur to him. Indeed, he remembered the men coming in, the screaming, the slashing, the attacking, the defending, and the pain. It all just seemed to congeal in to some sort of indeterminable mass that Cesare had a hard time picking apart. Indeed, his memories only really became cogent after the bulk of the attack had concluded. He remember Fabrizio helping him, he remembered Antonin issuing cold and calm orders, he remembered Catalina moving about fretfully to see if everyone was alright, and he remembered the rest of his siblings doing the same.
The morning came earlier than anticipated. The sun was already growing high in the sky, which meant that it was late morning. He was in his bed. He was upon his stomach, which was a most uncomfortable sleeping position for him. He wanted to sleep more, but when he attempted to shift to a better position, a flare of pain shot through his back and then the entirety of his body. That was when his memory returned. He had been hit. From what he surmised, it was a rather serious gash on his back. This was awful. What was he supposed to do?
Struggling nonetheless, he managed to get himself to a sitting position, and the grunts of pain was enough to bring the family physician into the room... who explained his situation. Bathing followed, along with a meal, but he was banished to his bed where he must sit only lightly upon his back. This was horrid. He needed to get out. The physician assured him that everyone else in the family was okay, but that was not enough for Cesare.
