It was without a doubt the strangest order he had ever been given. The order itself was clear enough, but what made it so strange was what it involved. The knight was to escort Lucien Deveraux to the gates of the city and be sent on his way. No further explanation was given, and judging from the sober nature of the order, the knight did not dare ask for one. It nonetheless did send his mind to racing. What in the world had transpired?
As of yet, Tristan had very few dealings with Prince Lucien. Certainly, Tristan could recognize him, but he could not say he knew him very well. The Deveraux family was a rather large one, though, and most royals did not elect interact with their protectors overly much. Tristan took no offense to this; it was simply how things were. He was a knight. They were royals. What more did he really need to know? Yet, the urge to find someone who might know what had happened was very strong. Fortunately, however, Tristan's devotion to duty was even stronger.
The tall knight was dressed in his standard uniform of light armor, tunic, shield on his back and long sword at his hip. It was such a pity that he could not use his great sword for guard duty, but it was an impractical weapon in small spaces. Or, at least, that was what he was doing. The knight himself actually disagreed, but that was neither here nor there. He had been told that Lucien was gathering his belongings from his room after being escorted by the house guard.
Upon his arrival, Tristan gave a tight smile of greeting to those very men and gave a nod to send them on their way. Tristan then peered into the doorway, "Your Highness?"
