After having been separated from her friend she decided to read a bit and did this for a long time, long enough for the sky to go from dawn to pitch black. So pitch black that she was surprised when the page she was reading on suddenly became bright when the moon was looking in through her window. Attentively, she looked against the window and smiled weakly by the beautiful sight. Carefully she put away the books and put in a thread to mark where she was and could easily find back again the following day. Then she walked over to the window and sat down on the edge of it to watched the half moon and the twinkling stars around it over the dark sky. Thoughts began to flow through her head and slowly she closed her eyes as it drew to the wrong direction. Supplied she sighed heavily and opened her eyes again with a new decision decided.
A little fast she looked into the mirror she was passing by to double-check that she looked acceptable before she left the room to go down to the kitchen. It was quiet in the building now. Virtually all were already asleep, only a few were still awake but the majority of them were inside of their room and did not notice Dahlia at all. In the kitchen, she met a servant whom she conversed a little with until even she needed to go, but before she left she helped Dahlia to get herself something to eat. Actually, she was not hungry but there was something about being up late ... it often made her crave for sweets. She felt like a thievish child as she walked through the halls eating on a cake that sounded, in her opinion, too much because someone could hear it. When she realized herself attentively looking around as if she was afraid of being discovered for her 'mischief' she smiled faintly to herself and looked down at the floor.
When she got to the end of the halls she stopped by a window there she slowly ate up the last of the cake and thought about what she would do next. She could do as everyone else and go to bed but uncomfortable with the idea she allowed herself to think outside the box. Thoughtful, she looked towards the door and hesitated for a while before she went out and did her best not to make more noise more than necessary. Once outside, she first walked around the garden and examined the area but when she had walked a lap around she came back to the same question as before about what she would do. Maybe she could go down to the stables... Was she even allowed to do that at this time? Dahlia hesitated but she was already outside and she was not even sure if she was allowed to be there either - did it really matter? Pattering on tiptoe she walked away towards the stables and closed the door quietly behind her.
At first she did not know what she would do once she was in there but when she caught sight of a horse she was familiar with since before she took the decision to go there. The horse greeted her with a gentle nudge with his muzzle against her shoulder when she came closer. "Sorry, did not mean to wake you up..." she whispered low, stroking the horse over his neck before she sat down in a corner of the box towards the exit. The horse cut curiously his ears and lowered his head there he could blew out air so that her hair flew away from her face. Lowly she giggled and stroked him gently with a few fingers over his white blaze. "Or do you also have trouble sleeping?" Gently she laid her head slightly on the side and began a low conversation with the horse in a soft and gentle voice. She did not expect that the horse to answer, but sometimes it was enough to just listen.
