Flavia saw to the arrangements herself to transport her family to Bordelaix, especially upon hearing that the Dowager Countess intended to attend the King's Court herself. Now more than ever was the time to advance her intention towards securing the future of Treveno and House Sforza. Little Romeo was not to accompany them; instead, she made arrangements for the boy's tutors and guards to take him out of the city to one of the Sforza estates for the autumn. Unlikely as it was that the boy's mother - she refused to speak the woman's name - would make an effort to reclaim her son, Flavia refused to leave anything to chance.
Now that all was in readiness, she waited for her younger siblings to join her on the river docks. The barge was waiting to traverse the miles to the lower sea that led to Bordelaix. All told, the journey would take them the better part of a week, delivering them to the kingdom's capitol at month's end. They would be on time, albeit barely. Flavia glanced towards the family's castle, a golden brow rising expectantly as she adjusted the broad-brimmed hat shading her face.
The river captain touched his cap to her, informing her that their luggage was secured, as were several of the horses she insisted on taking. There would be plenty of events where a steed was required - hunts, riding about the city, and so on. Flavia preferred to be mounted on a beast with whom she was familiar, the same for her siblings. Once they were all boarded and the barge starting its run down the river, the three would need to talk....
