Have you read the General Rules?:

Are you adopting a character from the Open for Claims List?:
Definitely not.
If so, have you discussed the required character elements with the contact person?:
Heck no.
Character Name:
Remy Blackthorne
Age:
37
Gender:
Male
Birthdate:
November 7, 1389
City / Region:
Oria, Nacimiento
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]:
Blackthorne
Played by:
Aidan Gillen
Appearance:
A man of medium height and slender build, he is not remarkably handsome, but nor is he ugly. Pleasant-featured with a well-trimmed moustache and short hair shot through with silver, Remy prefers a subtlety to his appearance. Typically dressing in darker colors, he prefers a long doublet over shirt and trousers, typically wearing boots for the sake of comfort and ease of walking. Long fingered hands have papery dry skin from near-constant paperwork. A network of fine lines appear around grey- green eyes when he smiles. When he speaks, Remy's voice is low, well-modulated and impeccably controlled.
Personality:
Remy is a man who is impeccably controlled and impossibly smooth. He presents a face to the world of impeccability in clothing, movement, speech and deeds. Priding himself on the value of intelligence and comraderie, he is everyone's friend... but no one's close companion. Recognized by many, he is often smiling and congenial, an excellent and welcoming host, yet there are plenty of whispers that he is the wrong man to cross.
Accused by some of ruthlessness and a lack of conscience, Remy is simply driven to accomplish all that he can to continue the line of Blackthorne and secure their tradition of banking in Archades. Some call him cruel, callous, selfish, and perhaps he can be seen so, but every decision that is made affects the bank, his family and their futures. These are his priorities and he does not allow himself to be distracted from them.
A man who is often seen holding a glass, he is suspected of being a heavy drinker. A glutton for fine foods, a sybarite of the highest caliber who is unwilling to settle for anything regardless of what it might be. Even his women are a cut above... if they knew whom he entertained in that ilk. The biggest problem is that everyone has heard plenty, but few have actually witnessed much of anything where Remy is concerned.
Intensely loyal to his family, he promotes their cause wherever he goes and in whatever fashion he can. Blessed with an overabundance of siblings, he intends to spread their influence through the prudent marriages, and hopefully keep them in check.
Specific Skills or Abilities:
Investments
Speculation
Economics
Negotiation
Political Maneuvering
Espionage
Background:
As the eldest of the current generation, Remy was groomed from birth to assume the role of leader - of his brothers, of the family, and naturally, of the bank that rested in Blackthorne hands. Fortunately, those responsibilities suited his mind perfectly. Even as a child, he showed an aptitude for numbers and for manipulating them to the greatest possible aspect. When not at his books, he made sure to join his father in inspecting the lands, demanding to be taught everything he could about the Pittsmeadow region, the agricultural regime and what made the family so profitable.
At his mother's demand, Remy stood as an example to his brothers, especially Gabriel, when it came to obtaining the polish needed for a young nobleman. It became a kind of game to him, learning the intricate arts of word games, the dance of manners and the skills needed to present himself as utterly trustworthy. He had a role to fulfill, and he embraced it fully. He is not perfect, possessed of a formidable temper and a lack of patience for anyone who dares to interfere in his plans. His brothers have felt the sharp edge of his biting wit and the whip of his temper on the occasion that they have failed to meet his expectations.
Unmarried despite his mature age, Remy can afford to be selective when it comes to his future bride and those of his brothers. There is no talk of love, no romance. Only advancing the family name and agenda. He has heirs in aplenty, so business can and often remains his sole focus. Even socializing is used in the name of business. Complacency is not permitted.
Writing Sample:
Despite Gabriel's efforts to secure their hone and ensure there would be no opportunities for eavesdroppers, Remy refused to lower his guard no matter their locale. One single slip, one minor breach, and all of their work could come tumbling down like a house of cards. The Blackthornes worked far too hard to take unnecessary risks merely for the same of comfort and convenience.
A glance leveled as his brother with that pertinent bit of news. "Do they indeed? Is the spy any good?" If so, then he would shift Michel's attentions elsewhere. There was no point in doubling the work without just cause. However, the mention of Helena made his face tighten briefly. "Indeed you do, and with whom she is doing it. The sooner, the better, if you please, brother." He trusted their sister, but Helena was following her own agenda lately, rendering her unpredictable and erratic, two aspects he did not particularly trust despite his innate faith in his sister.
