They had just gotten to Bordelaix from Lavigne last night and their guests were all settled either in the palace or a guest-house in the city. Juliette was relieved to hand over official hosting duties to her older sisters and retreat back into being just Juliette, instead of Her Highness Princess Juliette. That left her free in the morning to enjoy being back home and in her favorite places starting that very morning.
She always got up early and stopping by the kitchen for something portable to eat, was out in the grounds before anyone could stop her. Juliette by-passed the gardens, they were too formal and tame for her liking this morning and far from private. She wanted a place where she could have a little peace and a lot of space before all the chaos of Nicolette's coronation started. As it was, the palace was already full of people from far and wide in Archades and beyond. She was already feeling crowded.
Tomorrow meant she would have to put on the mask of the proper Princess Juliette but for today, she could just enjoy some peace and quiet. Carrying a basket that had her breakfast and some fruit, a book and a pillow, she headed off to one of her favorite places on the grounds of the palace - a small pond that was surrounded by willow trees with wide, low branches that were just perfect for her to sit in and fronds that hid her from anyone passing by, hopefully.
Finding the perfect tree didn't take long and within minutes, Juliette was curled up in the branch, her back to the trunk and the book in her hand as she worked her way through one of the rolls the cooks gave her to eat. She was perfectly content, hearing only the rustle of leaves and bird-song, thinking that she was entirely alone.
