After the feast Tamhas had needed a day to lay low and reflect on the evening. He had spent the day with his parents, listening to his father talk of the success of the day before and even attempted to help his mother fix a hole in her dress that had been gotten that evening. He didn’t do a good job of it, his hands were not made for such small work, and twice he snapped the needle and thread, but he was grateful for the distraction. His mind was whirling in a way he didn’t appreciate and he struggled to concentrate.
That evening it was suggested to him that some fresh air would do him some good. Of course he joked that the air here wasn’t fresh, and it reminded him that he missed home and his hills and his farming. But he took the walk all the same. Heading out into the grounds and further still into the streets.
Tamhas must’ve been wandering for an hour or so when he came upon the lakeside. It was nice out here, peaceful and reminded him much more of the land he missed. It was away from the buzz of the street-sellers and the crowds of people that made him feels claustrophobic.
Sitting by the waters edge, though not too close, he watched the wind dancing through the lily flowers and the birds in the sky. It put him at peace and allowed his mind to clear up the thoughts in his head, if only just a little. Had he stepped too far?
He hadn’t even danced with Christina…and now he regretted that.
