The time after dinner in Vasile was an ideal time to take in the mountains as they glowed whitely in the moonlight against the back-drop of night sky. Usually Reed spent the time in the company of Marcus or Wilhelm, but tonight Marcus had his own plans, and so did Wilhelm, leaving the Gardiner man to his own company. No matter, he did not mind the solitude. Soon enough the chaos of the royal daughters and their entourage would arrive, and there would be little space or peace to be found. He intended to enjoy it while he could.
Nursing one of the cigars and a glass of the fine brandy that his host kept on hand, he stood on the terrace, watching the stars come out. The air was cooling with the fall of night, and the view was crystal clear to the backdrop of the white-frosted mountains. Reed was at home in Vasile, though he did not make it to visit as often as he wished. He would have to invite the royal party and his hosts to travel home by way of Lockewood, he decided. It was only appropriate, and would prolong exposure of the Gardiner family to the royalty.
Smiling to himself, he sipped the smoky brandy, a hand resting on the rail as he allowed his mind to wander. The family in its entirely seemed to have their evening planned out, not that he minded. Reed considered it a compliment that the Romanovs didn't feel the need to entertain him every minute. Uncertain what to do, he lingered at the terrace's rail, thinking on how to pass the hours before he retired.
