Character Name: Severin Rosenquist
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Birthdate: December 1st, 1399
City / Region: Jongsborg, Lindblum
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Rosenquist
Played by: Sebastian Stan
Appearance:
The Crown Prince of Lindblum does not look it. Certainly, he has his father's handsome nature and a ready smile on his lips, but one would not immediately presume his station. Certainly, the man cleans up very well for social functions, but he prefers more comfortable and practical clothing. After all, it would be most convenient if could stroll through the halls of the Chateau as he could the forests that surrounded the lake. The man is tall, like most of his people and wiry in build. His dark hair is naturally wavy and is complemented by intense hazel eyes.
Personality:
Severin Rosenquist is, in many ways, the quintessential native of Lindblum. A commoner from Severin’s lands would tout him as a good, honorable, hardworking man that sets a fine example for those over whom he will rule in the future. Indeed, many would say that he is his father’s son, having his looks, personality, natural leadership ability and quiet, but powerful nature. However, people from other kingdoms may find themselves put off by his mannerisms. More often than not, Severin does not dress as a Crown Prince supposedly should. Fine clothes only get in the way, in Severin’s opinion and what is the point of wearing such things if he is going to be working hard on helping a home being built, a field being tilled or traipsing through the woods after a deer? Thus, if a single word had to be used to describe Severin Rosenquist, it would be practical.
Fortunately, he is not practical to the point of being a dullard. Severin has his passions just as any man. The man has a keen love for hunting, but not for sport. The fascination with hunting came from his childhood days of venturing deep within the forest to explore. Overtime, these sojourns evolved in self-taught lessons of nature. Severin learned the ways of the forest, what animals did what, what plants were useful and which were dangerous, and so on. As such, a deep respect for the power of nature in all of its forms developed within him. When his father took him on his first hunt, Severin participated but he refused to do so for sport. Rather, he did so because he was the predator and the animals he hunted were the prey. Predators consume prey. Predators do not display prey as trophies in a hall. Over time, Severin became a particularly good hunter, able to track a herd of deer for many miles without being detected and taking only what he deems necessary. More often than not, any kills of his are given to commoner families who have no means of supporting themselves.
Severin’s humble and respectful nature has won him a great many friends amongst the commoners and the nobles in the Court. Certainly, foreigners would contend that Severin is too idealistic for his own good, but his own people are quick to point out just how practical he is, too. If a disaster arises in his home, he does what he can to aid his people. If his people become threatened, he defends them. If his people are unhappy, he determines the most practical means of ensuring future happiness. A happy, safe, content, and productive people are the best sort of people in Severin’s opinion. Such a people will do anything to ensure not only the safety of their lands, but the safety of their liege.
On the surface, Severin seems the perfect man. However, like any person, he is mired by his shortcomings. Severin, like many Lindblumites, has a love for drink, particularly ale. It is said that Severin can get rather gregarious if he has one too many ales, but he does his best to control his intake. Severin has also been accused of being too stubborn and hardheaded for his own good. Once he is set on a path, it is all but impossible for him to be veered away from said path. While he does his best to keep an open mind and listen to all opinions, he makes it quite clear, bluntly even, when his mind is made up. While it takes a great deal to occur, his anger is most unpleasant once it has been roused.
Fortunately, those qualities are offset by a quiet, surprisingly gentle and observant nature. Something that people find surprising about him is when he laughs; it is startlingly booming and sudden. However, if one can make him laugh, he is instantly put at ease and comes across as a man that one would meet off the street of the city rather than the Courts of powerful Kings.

Character History:
The firstborn of Niels and Sophie Rosenquist, Severin’s birth was warmly received and celebrated by the people of the kingdom. An heir had been produced, Niels’s line was secure, and there was little concern as to just what kind of man Severin would grow up to become. The Rosenquists have always been a reasonable and level headed family, granting their kingdom peace and prosperity. Their reputation for practicality and efficiency are world renowned, even if they tend not to be the most exciting individuals in the world. Severin proved to be no exception to that rule.
As a child, he was rather gregarious, outgoing and very keen on running around outside as often as his parents would permit him to do so. Staying cooped up inside all day was extremely dull to Severin, and thus his parents had some difficulty getting him to stay in place for his lessons. While it was healthy for a boy to play and explore, Severin’s parents were determined to make certain he received the optimum education for a boy of his station and rank. Reading and math were a struggle for him for much of his childhood and teenage years, but through determination (and the demands of his tutor) he overcame those challenges.
Fortunately, his love of the outdoors proved to be a significant boon. Severin never balked at helping the people of the duchy with the various tasks, such as harvesting, building, watching after animals and the like. Indeed, he like many before him, he worked side-by-side with his future vassals as often as time would permit and developed a reputation of being a hardworking man. If there was something that needed to be done, Severin did not hesitate and immediately set to work.
As he came of age, his parents decided that it was time for him to consider looking for a wife, but did not push him hard on selecting one. Severin’s father, after all, is a hardy fellow and still had several years ahead of him! Severin, however, was not interested in being tied down quite so early. There was far too much in the world to be seen before he had to devote his entire life to the kingdom. Thus, he beseeched his parents to let him travel outside of Lindblum. Certainly, there were a wealth of countries to see: Sokoku, Montenoire, Archades and others. It took cajoling and convincing, but eventually his father agreed to let him travel, but only if Severin agreed to act as an envoy to the lands, representing their trade interests and not like a wide-eyed tourist. Indeed, perhaps it would even help their foreign relations to bring home a foreign wife.
Over the next several years, Severin alternated between going to a foreign country and then coming home for appropriate periods of time. While Severin loved to travel, he did also very much love his home. The first destination had been Montenoire, in which he learned a great deal of their culture and improved relations between the two countries. Fortunately, they were of a like mind and this process was not so challenging.
Archades was next on the list, however, Severin quickly learned that this would not exactly be a pleasurable tour. Based on rumors and reports, King Alexandre was on his last legs and his decisions have not been the wisest. Indeed, the lack of oversight had greatly affected the realm of Vasile, which was on the brink of collapsing into chaos. With Lindblum’s borders threatened, King Niels ordered his son to venture to Bordelaix to express their concerns and declare Lindblum’s intent. If the Deverauxs could not restore order to Vasile, the Rosenquists would. With his mission in mind, Severin knew he faced his first great challenge as Crown Prince.
Writing Sample:
Oh, Marie-Louise Deveraux was very much a princess, even if she did not look like the others. His daughter may not remember, but her mother had a very regal bearing that defined her character. Indeed, Jean-Luc looked upon her as a princess just as much as he did his sibling because Carina seemed to wear and earn the title well. There were many qualities of Carina that Jean-Luc could see Marie-Louise, they simply needed to bloom.
One such quality was coming into light now: the ability to parse out the truth from a complicated matter. There was something that she was not saying, that much was obvious in her eyes. “Oh, bah,” he immediately waved his hand. “I’ve gotten to the point where if they are blood stupid enough to whisper when I am near, I will turn and bellow at them to speak up. We’re not in a library.” By the Architect, people were so annoying. “But yes… I’m escorting you back to your room. You should be in bed.”
How very fatherly of him.
