During the recent weeks, Fira and the rest of her ladies in waiting had slowly been getting to know each other. While Catalina was hardly the sort of woman to lead with an iron fist, she did prefer an efficiently managed household. If all of her ladies could get along, it would serve that desired efficiency. There was, naturally, some resistance at the idea of a warrior woman being a lady in waiting, but Catalina was adamant. It would happen. It was so ordered.
As such, Catalina gave Fira lessons on curtseying, proper etiquette and protocol during a variety of functions. However, the Duchess felt as though she had been doing far too much teaching and she didn’t want Fira to strictly feel like a pupil. As such, Catalina asked a favor of Fira. Though Catalina knew her way with a dagger, she had a feeling that Fira could teach her a few more tricks and tips. This felt prudent in light of the recent attack on the family, after all. She might have to defend herself again and with the child growing in her belly, she would need mechanisms of defense that kept her increasingly cumbersome nature in mind.
The training would take place in one of the open training yards surrounding the Chateau. Though Catalina was not particularly fond of the Deveraux’s home, it was a practical choice. After all, the Deliambre home did not have an especially large courtyard for such an activity. Garbed in a flowing dress of blue and yellow, she had brought along with her two daggers that had been a gift from brother-in-law and husband. No doubt, though, Fira would have a training dagger for her to use.
“I appreciate you taking the time to teach me, Lady Fira,” she told the young woman amiably as they arrived at the training ring.
