Character Name: Isobel Cameron
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Birthdate: July 2nd 1404
City / Region: Marlowe, Shelbourne
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Cameron
Played by: Isla Fisher
Appearance:
Isobel is of average height with 5'3" to her name, and brown eyes that seem to fit perfectly the tell-tale red hair of her family. She enjoys keeping her hair perfectly groomed, often loosely laid down but at times pinned up in a nice pattern that she prides herself on designing. She quite enjoys doing her own cosmetics, too, and to dress like quite a fashion-forward lady, always in tune with what new fashion trends the ladies at court are wearing.
Personality: Isobel is a hopeful romantic. Ever since she started to understand the tingly feeling that came from romanticism, she has patiently awaited her fairy tale. She is willing to put in as much work as it takes, be patient, if only all those things will then pay off even more. As such, she's also adopted a few more characteristics, as being pious - in particular favor of Solara - or proper, as a Lady should. She would like to make her mother proud, but also her father, both of them figures she looks up to and is protective of. She would like to open all doors of opportunities, and lately has been more impatient about making some of those doors appear.
Isobel also is happy with life and the possibilities she faces. She knows she won't be the heir of a House, not being male. She doesn't expect to be the Queen one day. But shems happy with the hand she's been dealt. Further, she enjoys being a woman in the world, particularly. Being male seems to be arduous, very physical, very dangerous work, plus they do not get to dress pretty and be courted by gentlemen. That isn't to say she isn't a dreamer. And the optimism she carries herself with, as well as the efforts she puts into things she does, seems endless.
Similarly too, with such efforts, she strides to learn all the things she can, to be as useful as possible. She wants and will not settle for less than success, a characteristics that sometimes spans to other areas, like House and family business. When things don't go her way, or don't go favorably for her family, she takes it personally. Not that she becomes vengeful, lest it be to cowards and thieves, but instead she feels guilty, and grieved.
Specific Skills or Abilities:
Character History: Isobel was born loud, ready for attention and affection, and those qualities never seemed to have completely left her. Though, she's since learned the art of when and where to let out such demanding energies. The first daughter, and third child of five, she was never alone for a moment, and never lacked the attention she seemed to thrive from. It wasn't long thereafter that her grandfather passed away, leaving her father as Baron. She was not grieved by this, as she had not been old enough to be close to her grandfather, although in stories later and to hear how he died, she would eventually be sad, bitter and angry.
It became clear as she grew older, and from the moment she could articulate it, that Isobel was a little lady just waiting to grow up and have a piece of that fantastic pie. She loved helping her mother out in the kitchen, following her around the home, taking after her in many ways. She took reprimands to heart, and was impressively not one to shirk or complain at her chores. It seemed her parents had instilled in her a good lesson: put in hard work, and later reap the rewards. For her as a child, that often meant that when she was done her chores or her lessons, she could chase after her older brothers and play.
In later childhood, she noticed tensions between her brothers, which made her uneasy. She loved all of her family, and despite knowing her eldest brother, Tamhas, would be their father's successor one day, she never saw him any differently than any other. She didn't see herself above her younger sister, either, although she certainly was aware of their many differences. In fact, Isobel grew exasperated in concern for her two more daring siblings, which made her naturally more comfortable with Tamhas. She thought it was best to be proper, a quality her mother held, and couldn't understand why her sister did not see things that way.
Love was clearly a trait of their family, though, and they grew together as a unit. Her father never shied from showing her affection, and it perhaps helped her learn to be more patient and more given towards those she had command over, like their family's servants. She found that more things got done when handled with decorum and humility, also something that was taught to her by the church. Isobel never rebelled against the importance of their religion, and in fact it again brought her closer to some of the people of their land. She could relate to them, have something in common to believe in and talk about.
Perhaps thankfully, Isobel has had a rather peaceful life, despite the deep knot of hate for those who had attacked her family. Nothing more had happened to her. She has attempted to nose her way into family affairs, only enough to learn and, where she thought worthwhile, to look out for everyone. She thought it would be something her mother would do, thus something she should do also. If her father was out too long on his own, she would invite some of his men to escort her in the area. Similarly, she tried to defuse jokes gone a bit far between her brothers. She's also tried to advocate for some of the queries of their people, those whose good ideas she thought were worth the merit. Isobel has learned to be involved, pay attention, and help where she could.
As of yet, though, while she's not given up hope that all her good efforts would pay off, she's started to wonder if she would live a life of labour, or get her own prince charming to sweep her off her feet. Someone as gallant as her father could be, perhaps. With all the buzz in the capital, Isobel has been more and more interested in participating in activities which could help her make friends in high places, and perhaps attract the eye of a good man. She even started a small business of sorts, designing beautiful hair patterns, a trait which has so far gotten her popular with other ladies. She has the thought that perhaps with her unrelenting activities dealing with those she idolizes, perhaps she would eventually get her turn to live that dream.
Writing Sample: "I don't know! I keep thinking "what would the princesses wear?" or... "how would the princess place herself for a painting?", something like that. It's like I can see their blonde hair, and I just get an idea. Just like that!" Isobel had a far-away look in her eyes as she tried to explain to a new friend how she got the inspiration she did for her hair styles. She wasn't all that particularly interested in brushing out hair, or washing it, but she liked to choose where to twirl that strand, or how to form that braid. And it was easy to be inspired when you saw how gorgeous it looked in the end.
"You know, you have to wonder if the Lords ever take notice of all the little details," her friend commented in return, a puff of breath showing she was doubtful.
Isobel looked at her friend, considering, then grabbed at another strand of hair, rubbing it between thumb and forefinger. "Yes of course they notice. How else to attract a handsome prince's attention but to look stunning, but also exotic, you know? Show him something he hasn't seen before, her hair done just a bit differently, and then he'll remember you instead of anyone else." She chuckled a laugh, and both girls then were laughing.
