While the tournament had been something the marshal herself did not want anything to do with it there were some benefits in her participation. One of them being that she had excuse to leave the home for hours at a time to train which was one of the few ways Therese found to relax. Following her own orders the woman had two of her guards with her at attention allowing her to practice free of an additional worry. Thus, in the ring itself Therese was focused on the targets she had set up for herself viewing them not as a mere dummies, but enemies themselves. While the two men did not know why their marshal was so upset they knew better than to offer a spare with her for fear. The last time one of them had been so kind he had ended up with more than just a bloody nose, so it was best she take out her anger on the non-living.
The stay at the capital was turning out to be just as bad as she thought it was going to be. Rafael Sandoval was still in the background of her life luring Kattalin into dangerous situations even though he was described as so kind and protective. He knew of the attacks on his family yet still he selfishly spent time with her cousin in the open putting her into a world of danger while not ensuring her absolute protection. Yet for some unknown reason Kattalin was blind to the obvious lack of foresight, and lack of caring. And that was IF the attack was truly on the Sandoval house instead of a kidnapping attempt which truly frightened the marshal more. Yet, things could not get any worse then it was the sudden insurgence of rebellion that sprouted up out of nowhere from her sister. The confrontation with her little sister, one of the people she cared most about, had shaken the Dame to her very core. Months before she had opened up to Fede about the truth behind their brother's death and had hoped it would give her insight into why they all had to be so careful. Yet, the illusion of importance her sister thought herself to be was so strong it shielded her from the truth. And why would she be so insistent that she be unguarded? It came down to the fact that no matter what words her sister said about being proud of her, just like their mother, Fede did not trust Therese's judgement. The argument had lead Therese to that one so very painful conclusion that forced her to have to escape the Ibarra household.
Heated breath escaped the lungs of the lady Marshal as her hazel eyes darkened, focusing on the lopsided dummy in the center of the ring. In her hands she spun the blunted weapons of her training blades with an elegant precision that would be certainly intimidating to any living foe. She had already put the poor fake person though a terrible beating as pieces of wood and stuffing littered the dusty ground around him. A gaping hole from his stomach was already present with a wound that would certainly mean eventual death to many foe in combat. Yet Therese was not known for mercy, nor would she let the fact her opponent was made of stuffing and wood change her. It couldn't change what it was just like she couldn't convince change the fact Fede was starting to hate her just like their mother for doing her duties. In an instant the Marshal went from being in a standing position to sprinting forward towards the wooden figure with an incredible amount of speed. As she neared it the woman leap upwards towards the dummy as she swung the blunted blade of her sword hitting it in the shoulder and spilling more of it's stuffing. Landing behind it the woman proceed to unless a furry of attacks as more pieces of wood and stuffing went flying around her.
So be it... it wasn't her duty to have people like her, but rather for to protect them. If Fede hated her for it then...so be it...
