Character History:
Zia was born on a rainy day in July. She was lucky number seven in the lineup. She grew up living as if nothing was wrong and the world was good. She wanted to see the good in people. That would change of course. Not til much later though.
She was allowed to grow up learning weapons and how to ride. If anything she loved spending her afternoons outside on a horse. She would race her siblings enjoying her days. She found herself often organizing her room making sure everything was in its place. This started for her at an early age as she hated having anything out of order. Zia cursed her siblings when they messed with her room. She could always tell if anything had been moved an inch.
She would smack anyone who messed with her and made sure they would know not to do that again. She heard her nickname of ‘Tigress’ figuring that was good for her. She thought of this more and more as she learned how to track. She became known for her good tracking abilities over the years.
It was a day like nothing she would have thought of. There was going to be an attack. Zia thought she could help, but was not allowed to go along even though her archery was very good. She was tasked to stay behind with her sick brother the day their father had gone off. Word returned to them of the ambush. She wished she could have been there to protect them and help her father and brothers get to safety. Granted she knew if she had gone though she might have been killed or imprisoned. It was the first time she realized that the world might not be what she thought it was.
The day came unfortunately. Zia was practicing her archery when the attack came. She gathered what she could weapon wise and went as high up as she could. She was doing what little she could that day to hold off anyone from her position. She had no idea what was going on in the house nor was she able to leave her position to find out.
It wasn’t until later after the enemy retreated that she rushed into the house her sword drawn just in case. She found her siblings slain and one missing. Zia listened as all wes explained of what happened. She too explained where she was and what she had been doing. All listened when she spoke of her battle too. It was the day that changed her.
After this Zia couldn’t see the good in anyone any more. She figured the world was a dark place where their mark had to be made. She figured eventually it would be although she didn’t know how. She contemplated that as she took what she considered her place in her brother’s household.
Writing Sample:
The sound came. She wondered what those half wits were doing when she heard the cry and turned spying someone advancing upon her! She brought her arrow up and sent it flying in seconds. She had another one out of her quiver and knocked ready to fly at the next idiot who would come at her. She had a quiver full.
Zia didn’t think she was in a good position to defend herself. She moved quickly toward the wall and put her back up against it. Best way to make sure nobody could surprise her from the back. She waited for the next idiot knowing she had enough arrows to last for awhile. When they ran out she had her sword….
She had come through the door with her sword drawn. She was worried for her family, but couldn’t let that show. A servant told her she could put that away. She noticed a body on the floor and walked to it spying one of her sisters. She stopped cold and then moved quickly away. She never had seen a dead body before and ended up losing her lunch.
