“They say food is the way to a man’s heart, but I’d argue that certain items will find a way to Lady’s heart in turn. Sweeter things, mind you,”
In this aspect she was most naïve. Wetting her lips, despite his light musing, she grew shy of the tone the conversation was taking. And yet, it was conversation and required some sort of acknowledgement from her, one way or the other. ”I think, be it man or woman, we all have weaknesses and loves that find path to our hearts like arrows find their targets. Sometimes it is not the thing of it, that unlocks us, but the people who present it.” Her brothers liked food, but more than that, her cooking was a moment that brought her family together and she loved that beyond all else. She enjoyed to watch them interact with each other, whilst taking a pause from their busy lives to eat and indulge. And it was in these occasions that she brought them smiles, or soothed their stress… and that had more value to her than the actual baking of the goodies.
”It rains, and when it does it pours for many days. And in the winter the snow comes late and leaves later still –“ She answered his request, looking down at what she was doing as she busied herself once more with the instruments before her. He couldn’t tell where she was from? Not by her voice or the tone of her skin? She found that rather amusing, for they sounded similar and the sun had kissed them both. ”-I admit I prefer the winter at home, in Catanara.”
But she was fretful of saying t much, of breaking the rouse he had carefully created for her…of offending him if he thought her sly enough to play along. She looked nervously to the door, then back at him, and folded her arms about her lap, timid and demure.
