A thick parchment envelope arrives by armed courier. The servant indicating that he is willing to await a reply. The envelope is sealed with a thick wax seal into which is pressed a crossed Hammer and Pick.
Addressed to Lord Gabriel Vann,
Greetings Lord Gabriel.
Would that I were writing to you under better circumstances sir, alas that it is not so, and please forgive the brevity of this note in deference there to. The fate of the Duke and the Ducal family is well known by now, I see no reason to rehash it. However, let us discuss what it means for us. In the wake of what has happened, the region as a whole hovers on the edge of collapse. In times such as these cooperation is a necessity, and I call on you to join your family’s influence and resources to my own, in pursuit of the stabilization of Vasile in these trying times.
I have secured the services of several of the former Dukes retainers, soldiers and sundry, to bolster my own servants in securing and maintaining control over the area, as well as to search for those responsible for the attack of the Ducal family, though that search must take a back seat to other concerns at the moment. Of far more immediate concerns are the rise of Bandits to threaten our freeholders, never to mention our commerce and transportation.
You can trust that your consideration and assistance in this matter will not go unmarked, and that you will not require me to outline the means and manner of its marking.
Regards,
Tysen Price,
Count of Heimsburg
