Daniel sighed as he sat in the study that was used by their Head of House to conduct business. Sure, anyone of the family could go in there but it seemed, unofficially at least, to be Rik's room. He supposed it would have been his uncle's room before that, but Daniel hadn't come to the capital of an age to understand it all when there was a a different Count for House Delamara. For now, he was reflecting on what had been done, or not done, and what could have led them to this situation. He didn't know why Pierre had been so distant lately, but he found himself in the uncomfortable position of needing to sever ties.
When he next heard Rik next walking about in the hallway, the young Lord jumped to his feet and chased to the door of the study. The dark haired boy stuck his head out of the doorframe and called to his cousin. "Rik, do you have a second?" He wondered, not in any tone of panic, in fact perhaps with a bit of zest to his words instead. He did not know how much or little his cousin knew of his situation as squire these days, and so whether he could guess at the topic at hand. Probably not, though, but Daniel was willing to be forthcoming for he thought he should, and he wanted change.
Daniel had quite enjoyed the luxury that was being the Squire to Prince Pierre Deveraux, a Royal Knight of the Claviger. It was an extreme honor, and he the son of the Lord Marshal made it all that much more surreal. And then... it just ended. Out of nowhere it seemed Pierre lost interest in him, or had no more time for a Squire. Whatever the case was, Daniel was left in the dust, and while it broke his little heart, he also had enough desire for being a Knight one day that he couldn't let this disappointment stop him. Instead, he needed to speak with Rik who'd said he'd help him in these things if only he came to him and asked.
