Personality:
Leo is a caring male although he tries to hide this. He cares about his family most hoping to help further their goal. He is insecure about his role in this though. He will do what he has to though to make sure this goal comes about. He wants them to succeed no matter how he feels about them.
Being the younger brother he often feels he is his brother’s shadow. It hasn’t been easy growing up behind Kilian. He more hates his brother than anything. He often hears he should be more like his brother instead of his head in the clouds. He has tried to live up to his brother’s example only to find the shoe’s don’t fit.
He loves his older sisters and will do what he can to protect them. He has grown closest to Gisela. Granted she was much like him in trying to live up to an older shadow. He figured Rosamund just tolerated him being around. He knew that Kilian used his brother when he could. He hated that most, but wasn’t sure how to change it unless he wasn’t around.
Leo has a great love of animals. He sees them as more than just a tool though to be used. He prefers to walk instead of ride a horse. He knows how and has one, but he rather lets the animal run than ride him. Along with a horse he has a number of animals around him. He takes care of and heals any that come to him for help. He is still learning some things though and has mourned the animals he couldn’t save.

Character History:
Leopold was the baby of the family born last. His father saw nothing but another boy a second chance at creating the right kind of son. He would bring this one up just as he had his brother. As he grew older though he proved he was nothing like his brother and a bid disappointment to his father.
When he was ten he was taken to the arena to be trained. He was given a wooden sword and did what he could with it trying to prove himself to his father first and older brother second. He ended up in the dirt many times that day losing all battles. After the fifth loss his father left confused. His brother stayed laughing at him.
Once his father was gone he picked up a staff deciding that might be better. The trainer agreed thinking it would be a good start. He took to the staff quickly and won his next four battles. He still had much to learn, but he found his weapon of choice. It only disappointed his father further.
A few days after that he saw the archer’s practicing. He wanted to learn that as well figuring if he was at a distance he would fair better in a fight. It made sense to him. He found though his muscles weren’t good enough to pull back the string of a bow. He started that day working out to make his muscles stronger. That pleased his father some. Not enough that would get any notice though. His father was too busy training and preparing his perfect son – Kilian.
As the years went things only got worse between him, his father, and his brother. He kept trying to please his father and earn the respect of his brother. Kilian only showed him he couldn’t beat him in battle. He was better when it came to wits and stuck to that something that Kilian hated and tried to stay away from. His father started to ignore him more and more as the years went.
By the time he was fourteen he was more focused on his skill sets than he was in pleasing his father any more. He had found ways to keep away from his brother so he wouldn’t be reminded of his failures. That seemed to be all Kilian wanted from him to be the reminder that he wasn’t what father wanted in a son.
Leo resigned himself to the fact he would never please his father. He found his love for animals when he was out in the woods being fifteen. He found an injured hawk. His father wanted him to put it down, but he refused and nursed it back to health. He called the hawk Saya. She was released when fully healed, but kept coming back to him not wanting to go back to the wild. He eventually took her in letting her roam freely making sure she looked more like a messenger hawk so she wouldn’t be shot again. She didn’t seem to mind.
At sixteen he found he liked being out in the stables more or up with the birds. He checked on them weekly along with making rounds. It was during one round on the grounds that he found a wounded wolf. He remained calm and waited until it was unconscious before assisting the wolf. He kept it nearby and in hiding while it healed all the while earning its trust. He let it loose back in the wild, but the wolf wouldn’t go either. He sighed and took the wolf home calling him Jaeger.
Now at eighteen he knows he needs to go out and make his mark on the world. Jaeger follows him where he goes along with Saya. Both protect him when he can’t protect himself even his brother knows to expect one or the other now. He isn’t sure where he is going yet, but he figures he still has time to figure out his place and how he can make things better along with what he can do for his family.
Writing Sample:
He had been waiting hoping the wolf would wake soon. He knew the wound would heal soon. He kept the wolf tied up for now he didn’t think it a good idea to keep it in this storage area, but he had no choice. If the wolf was found he would be in serious trouble along with the wolf losing it’s life. He stopped short as the wolf was watching him now.
“Good to see you are awake boy. I’m not going to hurt you. The meat there is for you in time you’ll be back to your usual self. The rope is more for your protection than mine. I’m sorry but you need to be protected while you heal. Please keep low and stay silent. I’ll bring more meat tomorrow.”
