The man walked in shadow, dressed in dark clothing with nothing to distinguish who he was. A short, slightly scruffy beard covered the lower half of his face, something very uncharacteristic of him, though he though necessary to help him in the quest he'd been assigned. It would be shaved when it no longer suited his purpose, when he no longer needed to hide his identity. He took his duty very seriously, more so now than ever. His task had not been over easy, but it was time he made his report. The delegation from Bordelaix had arrived earlier that day, the Marshall of Archades leading them. He knew not who accompanied him, but it mattered little for the time.
He made his way quickly to the chamber designated to the Marshall, the guards giving him little trouble. Several of the faces were rather surprised to see him. They didn't openly say as much, but it was plain to see in their expressions. However, they allowed him passage. Once at the door, he knocked and waited to be allowed entry. The dim light in the hall allowed him to remain somewhat under cover, something he'd become more accustomed to over the past month or so.
So much time had passed, and he sometimes found himself wondering what he'd missed back in Bordelaix. The tournament had come and gone, his presence absent from the yards and arenas, as well as the dances and feasts that accompanied the festivities. Urgency and secrecy both had given him to chance to give explanation, nor farewells. He trusted that his family was safe, else he would have heard otherwise. His eyes and ears had been open to much over the last weeks, which suited him just fine. Lately, he'd taken more to speaking only when necessary, becoming even more quiet than he usually was. After all, he was here to gather information, not necessarily to make friends. And that information was what he was here to pass on.

(Please pay no attention to my note...if I put this info anywhere on my computer right now, I'll never be able to find it in the mess of wedding crap )
(The mercenaries came from out-Kingdom, a group that does not call either Archades or Lindblum home. They're not especially welcome in either realm. There are two residents alive - Brett, who was in transit between Bordelaix and Vanderhall at the time of the coup, and Elsa. He has not been able to find Elsa. Still working on finding out who hired the mercenaries)
