Though Caterina was hardly in a chatty mood, she received word from a house servant that Niccolo, her brother, wanted to speak with her. It didn't have the same refined politeness as one Lady might have for another upon requesting a meeting, using such words as "upon your convenience" or "if it should please you". Though those turns of phrase proved no extra flexibility, it at least tried to give the sense of pleasantry. This invitation she received, she feared, was for less-than pleasant a talk. And frankly, the woman wasn't a dolt, she wasn't naive, she knew full well what scandal warranted discussion, and had only been lucky that Niccolo hadn't called on her until now.
The spirited woman gave a sigh and put aside the needlework she had thought to do to calm herself down. She wanted to try a new pattern, something she'd gleaned from other Ladies in the capital, but that would have to wait until another time. It took her a moment to look into the mirror, decide that she looked presentable without much more modification, and then headed from the chambers into the common areas of the home. She figured he would be in the study, but Cat would look for him until she succeeded in finding him. When finally she did, she started with a smile as she saw no sense to fight with Niccolo. Angry as she was, the target of those frustrations wasn't so much her Duke of a brother.
"Hello, Niccolo," she called to him from the doorway to announce her presence, giving a brief curtsy, before skirting around the thick piece of wood and moved within. "You wished to see me?" She inquired, with her signature devious grin on her face, the one that told a promise of clever tricks to come. Once the words had passed her lips, however, her expression relaxed a bit. The topic, she wagered, was that of her would-be betrothal and how it had all gone down the drain, though she failed to see what it was he needed from her. Maybe he had some good news to share on that front?

Hey Josh sorry I couldn't recall what date I should have tagged it so I can change that up
