Septimus had not received a formal reply from the Duke of Seravino, yet trusted his instincts. The Lord of House Montefiore would be in the neutral city to meet with him, if only for the opportunity to levy his accusations face to face. Deciding that some of his household would travel with him to advise him and to keep watch over his wife, the Duke of Calandria gave the orders that those who were to accompany them should be ready to depart shortly.
The arrangements were made to sail for a time on Cesare's ship for the north, then take a river barge to the neutral city. A letter had been dispatched to Nacimiento in anticipation of the Montefiore contingent's arrival. If they were to resolve this ages-old feud, it was best done with the presence and assistance of the same mediators who originally negotiated their truce and divided the lands accordingly - the Sandovals. Requesting that the Duke send someone, accommodations would be provided for them in a neutral location within the city itself. The Deliambres would occupy the ducal property on their side of the city.
Satisfied with how the journey was planned, he stood on the dock to await the arrival of those who undertook the journey with him. Cesare would have to grant permission for them to board; their trunks were already on the ship for transfer to the barge, but cargo was different from people. Dressed for travel in plain garments, Septimus turned an eye towards the Castello, the better to determine if his family members were on their way.
