If anything, Nick Miller had a fair bit to think about. And it had taken him an entire day to work up the nerve to do what he felt he had to. Notes had gone out, kindly requesting the pleasure of the company of both Princess Olympe and the Lord Marshal, and permission from Princess Mariette to make use of her solar and a request to see Gabrielle freed from her duties for some time so she may attend. And of course, in his rough hand, he had penned as neat and as properly spelled-out invitation for Gabrielle herself to meet him in their mistress' solar.
The choice of guests and location, for the archer, had been a matter of much debate. There were many spaces in the castle he could have opted to make use of. However, he sought to find a room where she would feel as safe and as comfortable as possible And knowing the young redhead, there were not so many where she would feel at ease so he had settled on the solar, where the fall light would keep the room bright and warm enough.
As for the others he had invited, he had initially wanted Princess Mariette, but her schedule would not allow for it; however, Princess Olympe had ever struck him as amenable, and he had couched his request to her most politely, and he hoped she would attend. Her presence was meant to put another lady in the room to provide the sort of gentle support the handmaid may require.
Now, as for the Lord Marshal, Nick's request had been much more succinctly, and his presence was not intended to be a warm and pleasant one. He was meant to be there to provide the solid physical presence that, hopefully, would help keep the handmaid at ease, once Nick would say what he had to...
And now, he waited.
