It had already been a few days since she had arrived in Vanderhall, and had met with the presiding Princess. Nothing terrific had happened out of it, and she was granted what she had hoped for. From there, she had need to meet with a few important people, which not residing within the castle made difficult but far from impossible. Humans didn’t like to be cooped up, not even the insular Vasilians. When they came and went from the castle, she had only to lay in wait and happen to be where they too were. Then, she could meet and be met. That was, until and if the Princess found it fit to invite her to some sort of activity.
Had she been in the capital, the one in Faucheux at least, she would have been surrounded by the festivities begun in honour of the Harvest Festival. She wondered just what her cousins and siblings were up to and if they were seeing results from those efforts. She wondered too about the tenuous peace between Montefiore and Deliambre and the marriage her family had helped broker. She wondered about Maricela’s growing entourage, and whether she had netted herself the Duke of Shelbourne. There were many things going on that she would not be involved with, given her present location
All that said, she was not miserable. With the barebones of security and pampering, Rosalinda could manage. When she had a goal in mind, she was rather hard to distract. She had focused on many important details, many variables and opportuities, and yet she had forgotten some more plain facts. For example — now that she saw him — that she had told a particular Knight she was not travelling with the royal party, in fact had conversed as a complete outsider to the idea, and now here she was. There was little hope in not being recognized, and thus she could only square her shoulders and press on.
To see Sir Salvatore meant it was possibly the “sunny” Princess was around as well, though she was not immediately in view. No matter, she was not one to run from a situation, and she felt she might need to clarify this one. If she wasn’t suspect before, due to her family name, she was likely to be now. It was an unfortunate result of her last-minute planning, perhaps as the Princess herself had warned during their first meeting, but she thought it wasn’t necessarily to remain a bad one.
“Sir Salvatore,” she started, cheerfully, and clearly so as to catch his attention. He was, in that moment, looking elsewhere. They were outside, for Rosalinda avoided the castle without strict reason to be there. At least, a reason she understood, not necessarily one the Crown would deem worthy. “A friendly face in a foreign place. You are a relief!”
