This letter is sent with a small package containing dried flowers, herbs, and three additional slips of paper containing formulas for three different medicines. It is sealed with the mark of house Deschênes, and blue ribbon.
Annemarie Gardiner
Dear Lady Annemarie,
My dearest friend, I pray you are doing well in these summer months. This morning I ventured out into the forest in search of herbs when I thought of you. In truth, they were thoughts spurred by jealousy as Forestier has been having an incredibly warm season this summer. There have been days when I thought I might surely perish from the intense heat, and this morning especially bad. I do love Forestier, but I will admit I am envious of the cool breeze I’d imagine your mountain to have this very day. Perhaps Lord Alexandar could discover a way to send some of the chilled, mountain air in a letter back to me? If such a discovery were to be made I am certain your master would be the most cherished man in all of Archades, next to the king of course.
The weather was not the only cause for this letter, as I terribly miss our conversations, our walks, and our adventures. During my venture today I found a grove of Marigolds, and some horseweed. I am not sure if such plants grow on your mountain, so I have dried some of these specimens for you (likely you have already noticed the small package). Included with the plants are a few recipes our physician has given me which use these ingredients. Perhaps you find yourself in need of them if you ever have a sleepless night.
How are you fairing? Have you and your master made any new discoveries? How is Lord Alexandar? Will the two of you be traveling again soon?
I haven’t made any noticeable discoveries recently, but last week Rowan (our local midwife) allowed me to be in charge of a birthing. The whole ordeal was over six hours long, but at the end of it a healthy baby boy was brought into this world. Although I have assisted with delivering a baby before being responsible for the entire process was an incredible experience. I have never been so exhausted yet so alive in same moment until that child was born. Hopefully you can understand my meaning such feelings are difficult to explain in mere words.
Please tell Lord Alexandar hello from me, and that the two of you should consider visiting Forestier again if you get the chance. There is so much I would love discuss and I feel as though letters sometimes do not do our conversations the justice they deserve.
Sincerely,
Your Friend
Lady Gwynevere Deschênes
