Character Name:
Liselle Beaumont
Age:
19
Gender:
Female
Birthdate:
November 7, 1408
City / Region:
Sauveterre
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]:
Beaumont
Played by:
Pilar Lopez de Ayana
Appearance:
Like most of the Beaumont women, Liselle is of average height, though her bearing suggests that she is taller. She typically stands with straight posture and lifted chin, dressing in colors that play off her long, dark hair and eyes, accentuating her olive complexion. She prefers fine gowns and rich fabrics, though with only simple trims; Liselle is never without an accent piece of necklace, earrings or headpiece. She has surprisingly small, slender feet, and takes pride in her collection of embroidered or stone-crusted slippers.
To Liselle, her greatest beauties are her hair - it falls past her waist in a river of brown so dark as to be black - and her eyes, a similar hue. She has her father's straight nose, but her mother's full lips and strong chin.
Personality:
Contradictory - The public face of Liselle is silent, chilly and often aloof, but among family and those whom she trusts, she is almost animated, prone to what passes for chattering, laughing and bright. Too often, her silence is mistaken for rudeness or snobbery, but she is simply uncomfortable in many social situations and grows so nervous that she is barely able to speak.
Musical - Fortunately, Liselle has found another voice with which to speak. She is a highly skilled musician, playing the lute and gittern with deft ability. She also sings very well, enjoying when she startles people with the quality of her voice. Thanks to excellent training received from a former Royal Bard, Liselle has occasionally moved her audience to tears with her singing.
Animal Affinity - Like all Beaumonts, she has a way with the cats bred and raised by their House, able to command their obedience and loyalty. Accused (playfully, of course) by her cousins as being part cat herself, Liselle feels she understands the cats and appreciates their ways. She is often to be found in the cattery, helping to train the hunting cats, or singing softly to them with a cluster of cats gathered around her feet, especially the silver-grey felines with amber or emerald eyes.
Prideful - She is a Beaumont, with plenty of Connell in her. With it comes the knowledge that she is descended from some of the oldest bloodlines in Archades. Occasionally, that translates into a kind of snobbery among those she deems nouveau riche, those elevated to the nobility in the last century or two. When she sees those behaving in ways that strike her as common or coarse, Liselle will noticeably snub or shun them, especially women.
Indifferent - What interests Liselle, she pursues. What doesn't, she rampantly ignores. This tends to drive her parents to distraction, considering that she is 19 and of suitable age to take a place at Court or marry. She evinces no political ambition or drive, nor appears all that interested in the social aspects of Bordelaix unless it is a concert, musicale, or something of that nature. The one type of social event beyond that to engage Liselle's interest are balls.

Character History:
The youngest born by several years, Liselle was nothing like her brothers or sister. She was not a fussy or demanding baby, content enough to play by herself and live in her own space, seeming to take minimal notice of her siblings, parents, or nursemaids. Not necessarily unruly, she also was not the most tractable child either, putting up resistance when unwilling to beat bathed, dressed, and paraded before others like her sister. Liselle did not prevent or object to Celeste being readiex, but refused for herself.
Her family soon noticed the marked change in personality at those times - when it was just the family, Liselle was perfectly normal in demeanor and behavior, almost cheerful and prone to a typical little girl's chatter. She was engaged with her tutors, showing avid enthusiasm for her music and the cats that were the pride of the House, and generally well behaved. However, when strangers arrived or social events were hosted at the chateau, she was withdrawn and silent yet watchful, reluctant to interact with their guests.
When pressed, Liselle was reluctant to explain why she was prone to such behavior. Only to her brother was she willing to confide her reasoning behind it, trusting him to serve as her voice to their parents, hoping they might understand. She was not precisely willing to alter it, though she knew she would be expected to socialize both in Sauveterre and Bordelaix, when the times came. A compromise was ultimately reached, allowing her to spend a great deal of time with the music she'd come to love and the cats, whom she'd always loved.
As she matured, she maintained that dual aspect of herself, presenting herself one way to those who knew and loved her best, but another way to the outside world. Dividing her time between music, the cattery, and the tasks expected of her as a Beaumont daughter, Liselle has found her niche, though life in Bordelaix is not her preferred place to be.
Writing Sample:
Euria was engrossed in working on a translation of a Lindblum history, transcribing it into Archadean when one of the novices arrived. She did not immediately notice, her focus bent entirely on her work until the young woman cleared her throat significantly to gain attention. Blinking, Euria lifted her head to see the novice wearing an amused but slightly impatient expression and arched a brow inquiringly. The novices knew better than to interrupt her work without good cause, informing her coolly, "Mother Abbess sent me. There is someone to see you, and Mother says you're to come immediately."
Lowering her pen, Euria's face swiftly rearranged itself into a frown. Someone to see her? Who on earth could possibly be here, wanting to see her? Nevertheless, the command of the Mother Abbess was not one to be ignored, bringing her to her feet. A quick check of her hands confirmed there was no stray ink staining the skin as she quickly capped the bottle, then smoothed the plain smock-like dress she wore. A plain veil draped her hair from the crown, leaving her pale features unframed, the fabric fluttering as Euria made to follow the novice at speed to where this mysterious visitor waited.
She could not ignore the faint flutter of nerves in her stomach as she approached the door, able to hear the Mother Abbess's voice and another that she did not recognized. A low, masculine voice, Euria realized, a rare sound indeed in the Temple of Delias. Rather than ask herself again why he was here, she moved to enter the room and discover for herself what was going on.
