As his second day in Vasile, Riccardo was becoming more accustomed to the castle. At least, so he figured he was. He had traced and retraced his steps from his chambers, which were not too far removed from the central hub of Vanderhall. The important waypoints - the main hall, the main entrance, the dining room - were areas he felt confident he could find. A few more obscure locations were tentatively set in his mind, leaving the young Deliambre Lord to wander in their search.
Having intended to reach the lounge - so he was told there was one, primed to smoking cigars, enjoying the crackle of the fire, and drinking the reserve of aged whiskies and wines - Riccardo was disappointed to find himself in a dead end. There wasn't a soul around in these parts, and only his steps reverberated off the cold walls. He wondered if the section of the castle was unused altogether or just in that present moment, and what lost treasures that would mean. The Royal Party was here with work in mind, he knew, and he himself had things he could be doing so that he did not mourn the loss of homely activity. His mind, however, still wandered at the possibilities if the circumstances had been different.
Trying to return to an area familiar to him was difficult, but lead him to a room which he had not known existed. The room opened to an outdoor courtyard, a fountain in its center and dying flowers littering its perimeter. The sound of the water running was the only sound present, and even that would eventually freeze and be silent. In the thin sheet of snow on the ground, he could see only a few trails, leading him to think that only servants had come this way of late, and even then not very frequently. Riccardo slowly released a breath as he considered the peaceful if not sorrow-filled location.
