Today was the portion of the feast that the young princess had been dreading, the feast of the people. It wasn’t at the fact they would be approachable to both the common folk in addition to the nobility, Martine did not mind commoners or servants. What she loathed however was not being in public without the protection of her finery, and the mask of royalty. Her whole morning had been spent sorting through, trying on, and discarding various gowns for one reason or another while tolerating the inflated lies her maids were spouting off. Although they had insisted the princess looked lovely in any dress she wore Martine couldn’t bring herself to be satisfied. The simplistic nature of each dress seemed only to draw attention what the girl deemed to be flaws in her own appearance. And selfishly the woman found herself grateful to have born to life that allowed her to attempt to distract from her own imperfections.
Thankfully Martine was not one to be completely unreasonable as she had found a dress she felt was almost suitable to herself. It was a simple white linen gown with three quarter sleeves lacking in embellishments. Martine allowed her long blonde hair to flow loosely down her back while the sides were pulled back by two singular braids. She did however carry with her an accessory of sorts, one of her lutes, which was an instrument of fine quality so it did perhaps appear a little of out of place. She stowed it on her back with the light brown strap accenting itself against the white of her fabric. It was a security blanket for the Princess even if she did not have an opportunity to play it did provide comfort for her troubled mind. Perhaps there could be a moment where she could sneak into a gathering of minstrels and spend her time hiding there away from prying eyes.
Making her way down towards the grounds the typically quiet princess found herself feeling shy as she saw others around making their way to greet friends and family. She had made the choice to give her maids the rest of the day off so they could do as the pleased since this would be an opportunity for them to spy on and flirt with many fine noblemen although they insisted they would come find the princess at some point. Martine figured she would see them later introducing her to their families or some such other other person her servants wished to impress. And while walking into the feast alone was albeit somewhat lonely and overwhelming, there was also a seed of excitement that started to bloom...
