Watching him curl up on the floor made her smile faintly, noting the differences between the brothers. Pascale was much more formal, more polished while Bayard was casual and laid back, a free spirit. "Agreed. If anything ever happened to my sisters, I would probably find a way to take the world apart to see them safe."
She was further amused by his reply to her inquiry. "Be careful what you offer, cousin, because I am far too likely to accept. I will see where I can use your skills and let you know. The same for Pascale, I think, now that you have the estates in order." Nicolette was fond of her cousins, and hoped to see them flourish in their return. Her concern over Pascale was rising, but she remained focused.
"I will send the request, yes." She nodded thoughtfully. "Lord Saavedra isn't likely to refuse it, and it will give me a chance to broach the matter before I summon the Rohari to a separate meeting." Nicolette was not about to put Daario Saavedra in the same room with any Rohari. The potential for bloodshed was beyond high.
A grimace formed at his reply regarding his brother. "I know he is, but I also know that she doesn't necessarily return his affection. There's not much chance for happiness when one loves but the other does, Bay. If anything, I think he'd be miserable with time." Unable to help the sigh, she rubbed at her forehead, thinking. "But I have some options to distract him, if nothing else."
Nicolette didn't delude herself that she had any skill as a matchmaker, but this was proving far more challenging than she anticipated. She did not want her family locked in unhappy marriages, yet she could not promise love matches either. It was time for Pascale to turn his gaze elsewhere, she felt, but to whom? That was the true question.
