Personality:
Dylan is a hardworking man. He believes in achieving anything his mind can attain. He knows his place in the world and will do anything to keep it.
Growing up the eldest in the household, he has grown to learn to protect those under him. He loves his family and will do anything to help them. He would even die for them if it was necessary.
He knows when to play and when to work. He loves taking time out to race horses or have a picnic with his siblings. He will often be found working though more than playing. He will be in the library going over the latest documents to keep up on policies. He does what is necessary for him to undertake the task of his father’s heir.
One of the joys he finds is forging weapons. He likes to think what he can do to make a completely new weapon that no one has seen before. He hasn’t been given the permission to make such and just keeps working on his skills for swords, shields, and the like.
If anything he has learned to be charming when he needs to be. Dylan has learned how to stay on someone’s good side with a little bit of practice at being charming. It doesn’t always work, but he has gotten pretty good at it.
Character History:
Dylan was born the eldest boy in his family. This would only prove to show that he would have a hard path ahead of him. His father wasn’t first born in the family so they wouldn’t inherit the role of leading the family. His father had been the second born male.
When Dylan was old enough to learn how to ride and read he did so. He took to reading as he was ready to see what the world had. He took to riding as if he was born to command a horse. It wasn’t long before he was very good at both skills.
At the age of eight he first entered the arena. One weapon didn’t interest them they all did. His favorite so far has been the axe. He loved the look of it, and would later love the feel of it as well. At this time though he was only allowed to learn what it took to be a good solider. He would have to prove himself in the arena.
At the age of fourteen, Dylan was an amazing scholar. He had also proven himself in the arena. He was the one to lead and showed it every day. He helped his younger brothers so they could prove themselves too. He was very close to his family.
When he was sixteen he found a young lady very charming. He knew he had to practice his skills of charm and charisma win her over. It wasn’t easy, but he eventually did. Once he did he moved onto the next lady breaking this one’s heart. He saw no reason to be held down to one woman at such an age. The world was there for his taking.
When he was twenty he started seeing things differently. Something wasn’t right. It made him wonder just what was going on. He sought out his parents to seek answers, but they had none for him. He was a Delacroix. They let him journey for a spell thinking that would help him find his way.
He returned two years later to find his family dead. He heard the rumors of how they died. Awaiting him was a letter from his mother. He found it in her dead hand. He opened it even though it told him to wait another year for this. He couldn’t. The contents of the letter changed everything for him.
It was that day he started his travels to the capital. He would see about the contents of the letter. He would see who the Delamara’s actually were.
Writing Sample:
Dylan thought returning home meant that he would have a good homecoming. He was thinking a feast would be in order for his return. He wondered just what would be prepared. Would his parents be happy to see him again? He knew his mother would. He was looking forward to seeing them all again.
Going into the room though he found them slaughtered. He wasn’t sure what had happened here, and he thought of leaving quickly. It was then he saw his mother there. He went to her and pulled her close tears in his eyes. This was the woman who had nurtured him all those years. What would he do now? His world had crumpled around him. It was then he saw the note in her hand.
He read the contents and was shocked beyond belief. His world was turned more upside down now than it had ever been. Could he put it back together?
