Her plan was going off so far without a hitch. There had been difficulties, certainly, which made her plan take so long to come together, but it had probably been for the best. Now it could be executed at an even better time: the masquerade. There, the guards would be exposed to many wetlanders, all of which could have slipped the wolfsbane in their drinks. The herb had been tricky to collect, but when you had money and influence, you could achieve anything. Plus, everyone seemed to be scared o fthe Rohari, that they would eat their children or something like that.
She'd thus persuaded one of the servants at the masquerade to give a particular cup - one which Amirah held, having already stirred in the additional ingredient - to a guardsman of their entourage, her sister Leilah's guard. She had intended to have the other guard receive the same treatment, but the incompetent servant had brought the riddled drink to Turif, the hostage, instead. How she mixed them up was beyond Amirah, but there wasn't much she could do aside from watch and wait.
Later into the evening, both men found a way to excuse themselves from the ball, and retreated to the Caliph's residence. There, they were visibly ill, and sought the attention of the healer. Both men were taken to lay down while they were being examined, and the suspicion of poison of some sort was floated around, gossiped throughout the villa halls. The remainder of the masquerade continued without issue, where Amirah forced herself to do a little dance - strictly with Zara - and feigned a lack of skill. She did not want any attention to herself. And eventually they, too, retired to the villa.
