Life for the Sinclairs had been hectic in the last few weeks, sending the members of the family here and there like leaves on the wind. They had settled into the Bordelaix manor without necessarily putting down roots, the notion that they might return to Ashworth any day hovering overhead while they took care of business both personal and professional in the capital city. For Lizzie, it opened up a fresh, untapped market for her lace, bringing with it the prospect of selling directly to some of the Kingdom's most sought-after dressmakers rather than working through a traveling merchant, one who paid her at a flat rate per yard of lace and presumably made a considerable profit when he sold the lace. Already, there had been some inquiries about the lace when she and her new (hopefully temporary) companion displayed it for sale in the Harvest Market and one or two requests to meet with some of the dressmakers directly.
She was hardly the only Sinclair enjoying the interest of the city's denizens in her work; her sister Ambrosia was most definitely establishing herself as an excellent baker and pastrymaker in the city, receiving an abundance of orders for her sweet treats. Lizzie couldn't be more proud of her sister, glad to know that Rosie received praise (and remuneration) for her talents, though part of her wondered if Rosie would want to remain in Bordelaix to continue her baking. Perhaps that should be a topic of conversation... along with just generally catching up.
Hoping to catch Rosie at home, she asked her companion to go down to the kitchen and ask for a tray of tea to be prepared, and to invite Rosie to join her in enjoying it if she had the time. She waited for them both in the room that was known among the family as Lizzie's parlor, seated on the chaise with her lacemaking pillow and a skin of fine silk thread at her side. Her fingers moved efficiently through the pattern she'd created, a soft hum coming from her lips as a sign of contentment.
So much to tell... and hear!
