Emile nodded, but his eyes moved to a distant point. He clearly didn't think to voice his concern, and did not believe it would be a thought shared by the Lady present. He was prepared to see treachery in anyone, not willing to let anyone get too close. That made the multiple heirs of Montenoire being present suspicious. Although, he supposed, if the Grand Duchy truly wished to spy on Archades, they could have sent peasants or anyone unrecognisable. Maybe they were simply here to enjoy the festivities, or perhaps to find marriage matches? It seemed a time for it, as was happening he knew among many families.
As for Clara's departure, Emile came to intercept, with some words that seemed to take effect at least long enough to stall her. While he may not know just what exactly he wanted from the Lady in that moment, he knew he preferred to have her around. As such he didn't accept her explanation. "Nonsense. You do not impose on me, Lady Clara. Just Clara, if I may?" He suggested, ready to shed that extra layer of formality, at least in this instance. He wielded formality as a form of protection, but felt in Clara's case that it wasn't necessary. And besides, they were alone in the library.
"Well, I recommend," putting emphasis on the verb used, "we find a quiet corner of this place and drink and laugh and enjoy each other and forget all of this," he waved a hand around him, indicating just about everything. But then the Prince sighed a short moment and looked to Clara's eyes again, drawing himself together. "If you can be spared from your duties to indulge me?"
