It was not the first time the Princess had found herself feeling helpless in circumstances larger than her own. It was difficult for Martine not to dwell completely on the news and the questions of Mariette’s disappearance, however, she could no longer simply sit in her room. Not being able to be of direct assistance in the search the young woman sought other ways to help those aiding in the search and those in the castle. Lady Gwynevere and herself had been introduced earlier in the day, and while Martine was not skilled in the healing arts the lady in waiting had brought up the idea of visiting those confined to their rooms. Of course, Emile would be none too pleased about her being near those who were ill, but at the same time, she knew what it was like to feel locked away. In a way, the princess still was just that she had a larger cage than the knight.
It had taken her longer than anticipated to reach the barren halls of the quarantined palace simply because of both her prior injuries and the pair of guards with her. Martine did not like being constantly under guard, but Emile had insisted upon it thus she went along with the ordeal to ease his mind. Now outside of Sir Salvatore’s room the Princess glanced back to look over at them, “I think it would be better if we did not crowd your brother knight please wait outside. I will leave the door open…” Martine waited a moment to see if she would hear an argument from either of the men, but was relieved when they nodded in acceptance of her proposal. Blue eyes again looked to the door as she reached up to lightly knock, “Sir Salvatore...are you awake?”
