Character Name: Aldano Sandoval
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Birthdate: February 2nd, 1404
City / Region: Talencia, Nacimiento
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]: Sandoval by Birth
Played by:
Jacon Collins Levy
Appearance:
Aldano stands at approximately six feet high, he is thin with a head of dark curly hair, blue eyes and the facial structure that many would argue is impeccably Sandavol. While many proclaim him to be a good looking man he is nothing in comparison to some of his more handsome cousins. Usually dressed in darker colors, he is choose the subtle and yet regal clothing worthy of his position as a Sandoval. Fine woven or wool linens, with a touch of silk and for more formal affairs he might even consider a touch of velvet.
Always with a pair of boots for practicality and comfort, his hands are often dry, very thin and delicate looking from years of parchment handling and book reading. However while his fashion sense may change varying the degrees of requirements and social demands there is a constant to him and that is his cane, that stands waist high it's wood black ebony, varnished and polished, the bottom tip simple polished silver tip that announces his coming presence, the ornamental head nothing more than a sphere with the house emblem embossed at it's top.
Aldano is never seen without the aid of his cane to move about, his movements often pained and carefully decided and yet his movements are akin to a graceful yet aging uncle who moves with purpose despite the obvious pain easily read upon his expressions. His usual expressions though are considered wholly stoic, even his voice is controlled, monotone and soft spoken.
Personality:
Aldano is a man of insignificant stature if one does not count his height, which can be easily attributed to his love of books and education more so than physical labor. His personality is a mixture of both his house and long time mentor, Remy Blackthorne where he lacks obvious and seen passion he makes up for in subtle recourse. A man of academia and lifelong study, he is a academic who can hardly be found away from learning either from a book or by word of mouth. He is often found stoic but friendly to those who matter to him.
However despite being a Sandoval, and relying on logic Aldano is by no measure a man who relies on cruelty or ruthlessness but he is a rather goal oriented pursuer. Nothing malicious is done that does not in some small measure meet an end goal, otherwise his generosity and kindness is be considered great, even among Sandovals. With the house's reputable command of persuasion and charisma. He is a man who despite his physical shortcomings can be no greater ally and at the same time no worse enemy.
Deeply and some would reason, zealously loyal to his family he seeks only to further the family name, coffers, reputation, and respect. Though he also recognizes the fact that his place in the family is far from the reaches of leadership, and thus is driven to seek power in his own right while also helping the family name, and position for the ultimate end game all Sandovals seek, a return to the throne. And despite having a large family he is one who makes certain to familiarize himself with all his kin though fruitless as it may seem, a united house remains a devoted and focused house.
A man completely and utterly in control of his emotions, he recognizes the value of logic over anger, a code that has yet to fail him yet.

Character History:
Born 1404 in Talencia, Nacimiento and named Aldano Sandoval the first born son, though not the first born child to Emilio Sandoval. He was recognized as his father's heir, from the moment he could walk he was taught to play with toy swords. There was a desire to quickly instill within the child a sense of martial duty and ability. Possibly like his father a knight of the house, a protector, and if need be an enforcer. However much to the disappointment of Emilio, young Aldano found better interests in other pursuits and from the moment he could begin to read which was at the early age of two books were his companions. Normal childhood activities were set aside and instead which was chosen was books, often reading, re-reading until the subject matter was understood. Or abandoned to be re-read at a later date when comprehension was better.
Emilio rather than fall upon anger or disappointment recognized the potential that Aldano showed, by age six Aldano had gone through a quarter of the family's library. But he was taught lessons that weren't in books and one of the first concepts he found vested interest in was mathematics. Numbers, Aldano found were agreeable, they didn't lie, they weren't opinion, and all formulas and equations allowed a problem to be proven beyond doubt. In essence they were logic in it's purest form. But a lesson that was pushed harder by the house tutors, by uncles and even by cousins was the history of the house.
From humble beginnings in a different realm, to the exploration of what is now Archades, to the forming of leadership between the Montefiores and the Deliambres. To the formation of the Kingdom once Vasile and Shelbourne were brought under control, and eventually the decline as the throne was stolen, they were exiled to usurpers and pretenders who now sat in their stead. These lessons were taught weekly, without fail, without delay or excuse until the point came that Aldano could easily recite the histories back with verbatim like accuracy. However by ages seven it was apparent that Aldano could go through books and scripts faster than a flame and thus he was warded off to House Blackthorne at age eight as both a new educational experience and an act of goodwill.
Meeting Remy Blackthorne and away from his family was a daunting experience, at first. However, Remy soon proved to be the intellectual superior is all things academic a day did not go by that Aldano's mind was not challenged. Investments, returns, interest, the difference between usury and interest, what was a good investment, examples of bad investments, lucky investments throughout history, good investments through out history. Aldano ate near the library, often fell asleep within a library only to wake up and return to the library. No new subject was allowed until the previous was mastered, and Remy made sure mastery was achieved through verbal tests, written tests, practical exercises and sometimes even real exercises.
But he was also taught politics, observation, courtly mannerisms, by age fifteen there grew concern at the young Aldano's desire for books more than other pursuits that usually interested males at that age. It was only books, fine meats, fine pastries and food that usually held his other interest when it came time to eat and despite his thin and lithe body his appetite was one of a much larger man. Of course it only took so long before Lord Blackthorne was able to discern to Emilio that Aldano was indeed aware of the female form. By the time Aldano reached the age of sixteen and the time to return home he did only for a few months before being granted his desire to return, to further his education and so he did returning every two months staying home for a fortnight to visit all members of his family, especially his siblings and younger cousins who he could relate to easier.
Aldano despite being warded to, educated by, and practically raised by Lord Blackthorne never forgot he was a Sandoval, though by age seventeen he began to slow, movements became pained and difficult and it wasn't long before physicians were able to properly diagnose him. He was stricken with the disease of kings, gout. From his desires of fatty and rich meats, fruits, pastries his misfortune finally caught up to him. Soon his travels on no longer on horse back where grip on a reins required good hands, and optimal joints. He was restrained to carriages and soon had no choice but to adopt a cane for simple movements.
Even requiring a regiment of tonics and pain killers in a mix of hemlock, henbane and opium poppy. Returning home at the age of eighteen while he didn't possess a body worthy of holding a sword, he did in fact possess an academic mind worth a roomful of scholars. But having returned home he began his plans, way to make the house greater, perhaps greater than before but that required more than just himself, it required the aid of his family. The time for waiting and watching are coming to an end, and the time for acting is quickly coming upon him.

"But Lord Sandoval ... that would destroy me, destroy my house, destroy my future, we'd be ruined!" The man protested to Aldano who was seated across from him under the guard of two house guardsmen. Aldano however wasn't seated, instead he stood leaning on his cane and nodding. He dressed in a dark grey long doublet, covered with a great coat, and boots to match, over his shoulders and down over his chest sat a gold livery collar with the gold emblem of his house displayed. "I'm not Lord Sandoval, Lord Aiken. You can call me Lord Aldano however we are not destroying anything we merely uncovered your debts you attempted to hide from us in doing business. And we've chosen that it would be the best course for us to not do business with a man who is too indebted to obviously know good investments from bad."
Aldano nudged the guard next to him and gestured to the bar, then holding up two fingers as the guard walked over to fill a stout glass of port wine. The man to be ruined Lord Aiken called only lord by courtesy, sat there dressed in fine leathers and furs obviously purchased when times had been better. "But there is a certain cause for celebration Lord Aiken." Then man was then offered the glass of port wine from the guard as he took it and slowly guzzled it down like it was cool tea. Aldano's own mind churned with the idea of making this into a positive working investment for the house.
"You are drowning in debts... you can't afford to float your business another month without paying them off, and worse off these debts are contractual... as in signed by you, your signature, your seal, your word. But you're also owed loans from certain houses, loans that if repaid can be easily used to pay off your debts yet you possess no means nor the time to wait to collect these debts and should you be in debtors prison, they never have to pay. I however can wait, I can send notifications of added interest for non payment and I can enforce the collection. I'd be willing to buy your loan agreements at a third of the price... right now, in denominations of silver, gold, copper or a simple bill of exchange which can be exchanged at any bank of Blackthorne." Given his relationship with Remy, Aldano knew he'd honor as bill of exchange from a Sandoval or better yet Aldano.
"I.. how did you know? I figured Lord Aldano that I had time..." Aldano looked to the man with a neutral expression, before turning and slowly walking with the aid of his cane to the nearby desk slowly grabbing and pulling off the fine sheet of vellum inscribed upon it being the finely written contract of transferring his loan agreements to Aldano at a third of the price. It wasn't enough to get him out of debt but more than enough to give him at least a year of breathing room to find other clients. "I have my ways Lord Aiken... here you will find the offer more than generous, or you can walk away and I wish you the best of luck. Those are my only offers"
