Character Name:
Adam Sinclair
Age:
32
Gender:
Male
Birthdate:
November 7, 1394
City / Region:
Ashworth, Shelbourne
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]:
Sinclair by birth
Played by:
David Berry
Appearance:
A typical Sinclair, Adam is of medium height and build. Bearing his father's medium brown hair and the trademark Sinclair blue eyes, he tends to dress in deceptively simple clothing, albeit made of fine materials - linens, fine wools, and so on, that reflect his status as the Count's heir. He wears his hair somewhat long, tying it back with a thin leather strip.
Personality:
As the eldest of the numerous Sinclair siblings, and the Count's heir, Adam is often considered too solemn for his own good. He takes his responsibilities seriously, especially when he is left in charge of his brothers and sisters. Devoted to keeping the family together literally and metaphorically, Adam frequently considers it his primary duty to keep track of each and every member under his watch. Protective of his sisters and proud of his brothers, he can be temperamental, particularly when he is pushed on a specific topic.
He is not normally a violent man, but he does not shy away from a fight if attacked. Preferring a good fist fight to one involving blades, Adam will rise to defend any woman's honor regardless of her rank, to protect a child or an elderly person, and most especially, any slur against his family.
When he's torn away from his work - usually by one of his brothers or a gently-voiced plea from a sister - he enjoys a few mugs of good brown ale or a whiskey, riding out on one of the pride of the Sinclair stables, or generally carousing. What can we say? Adam is a true Sinclair.

Character History:
Born the eldest of seven siblings, and thus the heir to the Count of Ashworth, Adam began life as the apple of his father's eye. Not spoiled by any means, but welcomed as first born son, heir, and the namesake that would carry on the family's legacy for another generation. Within three years, another son followed, named Gideon, and then a third, Edmund.
Adam appreciated having brothers near to his age, with little use for the girls when they came along - first the twins, Maya and Helena, who were mirror images of each other inside and out, and then the two youngest, Ambrosia and Elizabeth. The three boys, separated by no more than six years gave him both friends and rivals in the schoolroom and on the training fields, especially Gideon. The second-born declared his intention to join the Verdant Shield from an early age, throwing himself into the lessons given by the master-at-arms with a will, making Adam briefly wish he could do the same until his father sat him down and explained to him the responsibilities that came with his birth.
From that time, Adam was culled out from his brothers and sisters to begin the lessons that would ultimately prepare him for life first as his father's right hand and heir, and ultimately, to become Count. The adventurous, raucous boy became more solemn, grasping the import of what he learned and what it meant to be a Sinclair, though there were times when he was able to cut loose, out of sight and sound of his father. However, with the accident that cost Elizabeth her ability to walk and the guilt that came with it, he is much less likely to do so now.
Fostered to the late Gardiner duke for a few years to gain experience in leadership and land management, Adam developed a friendship with the Gardiner heir, Reed. Of similar age, and eventually becoming liege and vassal, the two were able to forge a good working friendship and a measure of mutual trust and respect that has endured since Reed's elevation to the ducal seat.
Now at 32, he stands in his father's stead while the family is in Bordelaix, the Count and his Countess preferring the more pastoral life to be found in Ashworth. Coupled with the disastrous betrothal of his sister to Prince Stephane, Adam is more watchful and less trusting than ever of the current political climate. Change is in the wind, and he can feel it. More importantly, he intends to see that the Sinclair family is ready for whatever comes.
Writing Sample:
Regan's head lifted at the familiar brogue, her face suffused with relieved welcome at the sight of her brother. She didn't quite smile, seeing as Liam's words were dead on. The rogue who insisted on plaguing her life away and wouldn't leave was indeed causing her grief. She'd tried to be polite. She'd tried to ignore him. She'd done her best to send the odious creature on his way, but the man was worse than a wasp - he wouldn't shoo!
Shooting Freddie a look, she sniffed dismissively. Little did he know what she might or might not do with a sweet and kind gentleman - not all women liked to be tormented, or hounded by a wasp-like creature. Rounding to face her brother, Regan ignored Freddie's pleas and rolled her eyes. "Aye, to be sure he is, making a right pest of himself too. As if I'm here alone and without protection, such that I'd need some wasp of a stranger buzzing about!"
Oh yes, the little bee's stinger quivered, ready to deliver a sharp puncture. Regan hadn't asked for his so-called protection, hadn't wanted it, and now she was hearing him tell tales to her brother? He really need to fly away!
