Character Name: Riccardo Deliambre
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Birthdate: June 19th
City / Region: Catanara, Calandria
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]:
Played by: Hugh Dancy
Appearance:
Ricky is one to take stock in his appearance. He likes to look good to get the lady’s attention. He doesn’t put too much time into what he looks like though. He wears what he likes and looks good in it too. He has his brown hair looking like whatever and it works for him. He doesn’t worry about keeping his hair looking good. It will do what it wants when it wants. He doesn’t worry about it though. Looks are just the beginning of his perfect package.
Personality:
Hot head - While his older brother can keep his cool, Ricky is not that type. He is ruled by his anger and often it gets him into trouble. There have been a few occasions that his older brothers have had to get him out of. He isn't proud of these moments after they are over. He wonders often times if there is anything he can do to conquer his anger like his brother has. He hasn't found that answer as of yet.
Impressions - He has found it best not to judge a person by what he sees. He has learned several times over that people are not always what they seem. He tries to keep an open mind until the person proves what they really are. He likes trying to read people too. It is a work in progress on getting it right every time. He doesn't say out loud about this not wanting to share. He does delight in getting it right though.
Patience - This is more a minor trait of his. He uses it when he is working on a glass piece that doesn't want to come together. He finds he has patience around family too. He doesn't really use this trait otherwise. He does like to use it though to jump around corners and scare the snot out of certain members of his family. He knows other parts of his family would probably pop him in the nose if he tried that, so he has to be selective.
Loyal - Ricky would do anything for his family. He doesn't even have to be asked to do something, and he will pitch in to help any family member with what they are doing. When asked he doesn't think twice or ask questions about what needs done unless they are pertinent for the task.
Lost - While he has a great job in making glass and selling it, he often feels lost in life. He doesn't know what his real path is and figures his hobby as a job is the best thing for now. He can only hope his path will one day become clear to him.
Lady's man - Ricky is shy around the females. He talks a good game with the men when they are alone, but that is just what it is - talk. He isn't one to know what to say to a female. He can talk to the ladies of his family with ease, but another female? Nope. He has no idea how to overcome this either. No trick has worked to this day.
Open - the man has no secrets. He is well known in things all around. He doesn't tell family secrets or share anything like that should it be kept close to his chest. He is just well known as a troublemaker. He doesn't seek out trouble and he is known for that as well.
Specific Skills or Abilities:
Glass - he makes and sells his own glass wares.
Fighter - having a temper he finds it a good skill to have. He has been in a few brawls over the years.
Swordsman - he has taken to the sword like a fish to water. He loves how it feels to have steel in his hands.
Character History: (written by Rebel in original application, with a few changes)
In his youth, things were rather normal for Riccardo. He had ample opportunities afforded him as a man in a noble family, especially that of the Ducal House. He was well educated, brought along on some business trips at times with his father, clothed exquisitely, and given the best tutors in most anything he might want. This was the same for his siblings, although it seemed some of them had taken their education with more fervor than others.
Despite being of the upper class, Riccardo had never had the heart to take himself too seriously. He enjoyed meeting the locals, learning their names and families, their ambitions and interests. He found, really, that he simply liked to listen. He let his sisters and female cousins talk his ear off about most anything they wanted to without that usual irritation that a young boy might have. He dealt with it all with a smile and perhaps even nonchalance at times. It was clear that he was most unlike his brothers from a rather young age, as their interests, behaviors and tolerances were vastly different.
Even though he was a middle-aged teenager, he still had no idea where his life would lead. He took to many ways trying to figure out where he fit in the most. He wasn't having much luck though in anything he touched. He had his hobbies and those came out easy enough, but nothing that would become a path for life in his mind. He was often troubled in his youth on where he would head.
There was talk of sending him on a boat to see if that would stick for him. It never happened though. He was busy helping out in other places that the talk of that died down. Instead he became quite the handy man around the place. He got to know a few other things about his home that he wouldn't have known.
He stayed close to his family as much as possible. He would offer his time to any of them hoping to figure a few things out. Sometimes he would just help them hoping to forget he was a lost little lamb. He never said anything to any of his family about these feelings. He didn't like talking about such things if he could help it.
It came time eventually for his brother's wedding. He did his part, and not only that but welcomed the bride. He had a new sister. He relished having new family wondering when it would expand again. He hadn't heard anything else in the works. It worried him that his brother would one day put him up on that block. Was he the marrying kind? He didn't say anything figuring it wouldn't be a good idea. The timing was horrible. Besides he had other things he could be doing than worrying about his future. He had a new sister to get to know.
At his brother's behest, Riccardo ventured to Bondesano to help the new Countess settle in, and attempt to help keep her safe from any imminent threats. He remained until summer ended and the family headed to Bordelaix. Though he would surely have obligations with his own family, Bordelaix represented a wealth of work he could involve himself in on the Countess' behalf. For what it was worth, they would also introduce the countess to the courtiers, affirm her position as Countess. With her position growing more and more secure - encouraged by the Calandrian view on women, and his own brother's support - Riccardo is once again free to look at his own future.
Writing Sample:
Oh that is it. He couldn't believe they were dissing his glass work. Surely they wouldn't do something like that around him. He hated it when people put down what he made. It was not something he wanted to have put down. He worked really hard on each piece knowing what it took to make glass bend and move without breaking. Apparently people didn't understand that.
He heard the laughter. He was getting hot under the collar again. He hated it when his temper started to flare. He was trying to calm down when he felt a hand on his shoulder and a fresh insult spoken. This time it was about his family. He couldn't shake that one off as easily. He got up from his seat, turned around quickly, and punched the guy who made the comment in the nose. The guy's friend went ahead and popped Rick in the lip sending back into a seat that he hadn't had before. The fight was on. It always started like this. The ending wouldn't be so good though. Hopefully his family would be as understanding as always.
