Appearance:
Nora is pretty, youthful looking and tends to like the simplicity of dressing rather than the more formal grandeur of things. That being said, despite her beauty, she very rarely seems to show it off. Nora is more commonly found in simple dresses. She doesn't care for lace and all that goes with it.
Her hair is usually fastened up into a ponytail of sorts so she can work with machinery, with oils and sketches and diagrams. And when she’s not doing that she’s with horses, in the hay and the mud and riding off too far of fields to look at the stars. Nothing about the way this girl presents herself is to do with the dainty beauty she so naturally is. About her blue eyes is a fierce curiosity and passion for intelligence, which is more striking and more dazzling than anything else about her.
Personality:
Blunt – Nora can be very blunt , we don’t mean cruel when we say this. We mean, blunt. She speaks how she see things and has no fear of just saying it how it is. She usually manages to have discretion, she doesn’t go out of her way to tell blunt truths, but in conversation she very rarely feels the need to hide how she is truthfully feeling.
Why should anyone really do that? Life is too short.
Stubborn – When she has her mind set on something, that’s it. Nora is very stubborn and likes to get her own way. Being the eldest of three doesn't mean she desires this less. More importantly, she is stubborn with herself. She doesn’t leave a job half done and believes that there should be nothing she cannot achieve if she puts her mind to it for long enough. Strong willed, is perhaps a nicer way of putting it…but she won't thank you for it.
It's just not in her nature.
Curious – Her mind knows no limits. There is nothing she is not into, or nothing she does not like to know about. She’s not one to gossip and often her curiosity comes in the form of intellect, but it always there willing to discover and solve the greater questions in life (as well as the little ones). She’s got an investigative nature, and she likes to find answers! This can sometimes lead to trouble though.
Quirky – Nora laughs when most people don’t find things funny, she finds herself wondering what the plants think as she walks by them, she wants to know the what ifs and the buts of the stories she reads or the tales she hears. She has a different, granted sunny, way of looking at things. Sometimes people consider her weird, the nicer of those people might call her eccentric, but she likes the way her mind works.
It keeps her occupied when others might be bored at functions.

Horse whisperer – she trains, breeds, raises and cares for horses. The ones her family ride, of course, but also the ones that are used all across the land. It is in her dreams somewhere to train the horses used by the knights in all the kingsom, but she loves all forms of equestrian pursuits and is often found among these hard working animals.
Astrology – obsessed with the stars!
She can't get enough of looking up at them every time she can. Stars are something she would love to understand. She wishes she could learn as much as possible about them. Something tells her though that people don't know enough about them.
Invention – her main talent is the ability to see things and their uses. She is always tinkering with things, always testing them. She has a hundred plans for a hundred different inventions that will make the world a better place; but more than that she’s always trying to find out why things work the way they do. Sometimes, and to the infuriation of her family, she will take thing apart just to have the answer – and it may be days before she works out how, or find the inclination, to put them back together again.
There have been an occasion or two that she couldn't put something back together on her own.
Various things - along her pursuit of understanding things, she had picked up a few other skills here and there. Nothing major. If anything these minor skills just help with her inventing and curiosity. She has picked them up in her tinkering and knowledge seeking. For instance she knows a little about plants.

Eldest of three there are those who are a little unkind and believe that Nora should’ve been born a boy. Not because she can’t be delicate, or because she would fall in a pair of heels. She likes wearing dresses, she likes sewing, she likes the company of women and she would never dare to climb a tree or swing a sword. She can appear clean and feminine looking when she has to be.
But growing up, Nora is as you see her. She lives in a close knit community, in a clan obsessed with the way of nature. She has a closeness with her younger siblings, who are unlike her in so many ways, and is more than happy spending time with her cousins also. Not a warrior, she had a different calling in life and finds herself often tinkering in the background. But everything, for Nora, has been a little uneventful, despite her natural way of ‘getting into everything’ there hasn’t been a story just for her- not yet at least.
Of course, there are many happy stories in which she is involved. Many times where her ideas helped a member of her family and drew her closer to them. There was the time she helped Ruadhan fit a set of bells to the hen houses so that the foxes were always frightened away. Or the time she worked out how to fit a cooling element to Liam’s mini-brewery to stop the pans over boiling and ruining the ales. Or perhaps a memory of the time when she fitted a case to the pommel of Siobhan’s saddle so that she could keep a compass there for all those long rides – or when she was away from home. There are many stories, many occasions such as this… but never something specifically for herself.
Despite the closeness she has with her family, she holds a soft spot for her cousin Regan – and the obsession with the bees that the girl has. More openly, the pair share a lack of fighting ability and that together means that they tend to get along. Nora likes to sit and listen to Regan talking, often sitting and watching her work with the bees and listening to the words shared there.
Still, with close family ties, a probing and optimistic mind and lots of gossip about her – there still isn’t anything specifically hers, and Nora intends to change that!
Writing Sample:
Oh boy not again! She was having difficulties with something new she was working on. The dang lever got stuck way too often. She sighed wondering what she could do to make it where that didn't happen. Usually this one ended up smoking. She noted it was doing that again.
Nora learned after the first time that it would burst into flames if she didn't either shut it off, or she needed to douse it with water when the smoke started. She grabbed the bucket and tossed it on her invention. She would have to start again tomorrow. Why couldn't she get this one right? She sighed and shook her head. Well at least she would have tomorrow to work on it. That was something.
Looking down at her hands she noted they were covered in oil. She would probably hear about a lady keeping clean again. She had heard it before, and was sure she would hear about it again and again. She wasn't one to keep her hands clean when she was working though. Surely they would understand. At least they weren't completely covered like last time.
