Character Name:
Siobhan Connell
Age:
25
Gender:
Female
Birthdate:
December 3rd, 1402
City / Region:
Glenn Tuathas, Vulcanis
House [ Birth, Marriage if applicable ]:
Connell
Played by:
Sienna Guillory
Appearance:
Siobhan is a Connell through and through from the copper locks adorning her head to the telltale cobalt eyes. Her hair is often times unruly and wild, pushed back by a simple beaded band or braided out of her face. Slender frame but muscular from proving the world's way of thinking about women wrong. She prefers clothes that allow her to breathe and move as she participates in 'manly' trades of hunting, tracking, and other activities that keep her outside. Usually in soft earthen tones for better camouflage, and her boots are a deep rich brown leather. It's not to say that she refuses to wear the gowns and gemstones of a higher class, as she will don them when she needs to, but she is most comfortable in her well-worn adventuring attire. A necklace hangs around her neck day and night, with a single canine from a beast of some kind that she does not share with anyone. A declaration of protection to those she loves, especially her little sister Regan.
New scars from battle: Arms are marred up and down in light pink scars, nothing was too debilitating thankfully. Large diagonal slice on her back from right shoulder blade down to left lower back above her hip. Smaller slices on her abdomen from animals being used. A deep scar on her left inner thigh from an arrow pierce. A horseshoe shaped scar on her right shin from poor Aodh going down.
Personality:
Siobhan has an uncanny determination to accomplish anything that she sets her mind to. Whether it be tossing a rock the farthest in a friendly spat with her comrades or hunting the largest white tail in all of Vulcanis. Siobhan will see things through the the end, bitter as they may be or triumphant as she envisions them. She has limits to the ideals she has and how to carry them out, as even though she ventures into the wilds, she still fears serious repercussion and often times will seek counsel with her brethren if she has to question her own ideas.
Her family and her clan will always come first. Her loyalty knows no bounds when it comes to her kin, especially her little sister. Her protective nature could be akin to that of a mother bear with her cubs.
Siobhan has proven time and time again that she is well equipped and highly capable of carrying out the tasks she is given by the Laird of the lands and by her own siblings. She is gifted with a quality problem solving brain, which is only amplified by her determination to get the job done.
She has a long fuse to her ticking time bomb of a temper, it is very difficult to anger her in any sort of way. Even to get her riled up and mad, distraught, or irritated. She is the epitome of a calm and collected individual which helps her see all sides to a story and all obstacles in her way, and finding the best way to overcome them all.
Siobhan's love of venturing off into the wilds has created an independent woman to arise from the fire of her growth. She enjoys the company of others when times call for it but she would much rather be alone in a vast forest, surrounded by trees and wild streams, with nothing but her bow on her back.
Siobhan can be considered 'one of the boys'. She is a tomboy at heart, with a few girly infatuations abound in her every day life. Though she does prefer her leather clad clothing, she will dress in fine gowns if she absolutely has to. She is comfortable hanging around with anyone, her personality loaded with an amiable expression and friendly inviting stances, whether it be teens, toddles, or elders. She treats everyone as equal, unless they give her reason not to.
Her relationships with her family tend to be close, not having the heart to have some sort of animosity towards any of them. But sibling rivalries and scuffles still break out, they are just quelled quickly.
Ruadhan is the eldest and Siobhan looked up to him as a young child. He was strong and hearty, everything the Connell clan seemed to want and be. As a youngster was when she wanted to be as good as the boys. She has him to thank for her determination and though she still looks up to him and tries hard to not disappoint and respects him and his word, she still holds a rivalry in her heart and because of that she tries everything she can to do better than him at something.
Liam and Siobhan were close enough in age that they grew up close, she seemed to be tethered to his hip at any chance she got. She followed him blindly until she began joining in on the hunts of the other males in the clan. She found a joy in being in the wilderness and being strong. Liam still held, and holds, a special place in her heart and she will gladly sidled over to him to share her stories and hope they sound as wonderful to him as they were in reality. Any time she sees him, her eyes will widen and brighten in a jovial amusement, and she will no doubt be with him wherever he allows her.
Regan was born 7 years after Siobhan and at first, she was not happy with the prospect of no longer being the baby of the family. The first year she would do whatever it took to draw attention away from the new happy baby, as everyone lorded how darling she was over her. It wasn't until Regan began crawling and walking that Siobhan suddenly feel some maternal protective nature over her, especially when she saw that Regan would undoubtedly follow her every step of the way, every hour of the day. Suddenly, Siobhan wanted nothing more than to take her by the hand and keep her in her sights at all times. Even when she was older and off in her adventures in the woods, Siobhan would come back and immediately find her baby sister, and even though in her heart of hearts she knew the knighthood was her future, Siobhan felt a sting of homesickness for Regan.

Character History:
Siobhan was born December 3rd, 1402 - and she made quite an entrance. She came out screaming, crying, into this world with a chuckle from her father who proudly admonished that she had the strongest lungs in all of Vulcanis! But it didn't end in that first night, in fact she made life miserable for the family for her first 3 months of life. She could not be settled unless held and rocked, and her family was nearly at their wit's end. But suddenly, one night, she was laid in her bed and drifted off into sleep without so much as a murmur. She slept this way all through the night, but was awoken the next morning at dawn's first light by Moira, who was afraid she had died in the night. All little Siobhan did was given a gummy grin at the sight of her mother and then her father, and they thought blissfully that she would be a calm and happy child. They were wrong.
She was the baby of the family, and she acted as such when she could. Tantrums over food, over clothing. Anything she could think of. If she wasn't able to go with Ruadhan or Liam she would pout and cry, and had her parents running around trying to find something to appease her childish ways. Of course, she was infact a child but had she been born to a peasant family it would be thought of as normal. But to a Laird and his wife it was unspeakable the attitude she already possessed from the time she could walk, to well into her adolescent years.
It got worse when Regan was born and Siobhan realized she was no longer the baby of the family. For 2 years she would escalate quickly her outburts over the most mundance of instances. Her clothing was the wrong color of blue, her breakfast only had THREE berries and not FOUR. She tried so desperately to regain her families undying attention and affections that she grew to hate her little sister. It seemed as though she would never grow to adore her as everyone else had, calling her a darling little baby. Siobhan would stick her tongue at the very idea that someone be more darling and wonderful than she, until Regan began walking. Siobhan saw, shortly thereafter, that any chance Regan got to be on her own feet and toddling, was spent following after her and she very quickly, a surprise to the clan, grew into a nurturing mother bear. She always had Regan's hand in hers, leading her around and teaching her anything she could. They were to be inseperable.
At age 10, Siobhan showed an interest in the wilds of the Glenn, and the hunters would bring her out on their adventures daily (with Geoffrey's blessing). She had never smiled so largely in all of her life, they would tell her parents, and they decided then that Siobhan seemed more fit for the hunt than for the keeping of the bees as their family was adept at. And every night when she would come home she would find Regan to tell her all about her time in the woods.
As she grew and became older she decided one day, that her love of the outdoors, of the bow, of the sword and of the hand to hand combat was growing more and more strong each day. She looked to her family for support, as she chose Knighthood as her only way of sating the drive. She left, at age 15, to begin her training as a Squire. She had been blessed to skip over the role of a page, as she had learned what she needed to and then indirectly then some. She sent letters to her family as often as she was able about her adventures with the Knight she was squire for. Upon the day of her 24th birthday it was known that she would be knighted. She became Lady Siobhan, and she requested return to the Glenn to serve under her brother Ruadhan who had become the new Laird when their father had died. It was granted, and she returned home on the eve of her 25th birthday.
Writing Sample:
There was nothing in the world like riding a horse. The feel of the powerful steeds rippling muscles beneath ones legs, the wind blowing through hair, and the smell of the fresh air adrift everywhere. Siobhan could not stay away from the speed and the grace of her brute of a steed, a Clydesdale of the most beautiful speckled gray hue (a fault in the eyes of those that bred him). His name was Aodh, and he was like the wind. Siobhan's fingers wrapped themselves up in his silvered mane, her body leaning forward as they began to weave between trees and rocks. He leapt up, over a fallen log in their path, and landed solid and powerfully back to earth to continue to sprint. Siobhan was having the time of her life, but she pulled back only slightly for him to slow, eventually stopping with a disgruntled snort, but she shushed the beast and slunk down off of his tall back. She bayed him to be silent and still, to which he listened and obeyed, and she crouched down, edging over silently to a large rocky outcropping. A serious expression eradicated the joy, as she slowly peered over the ledge and down into a valley. One that, she decided, would be easy enough to scale down be it foot or horseback, and she drew her bow. A beautiful doe stood in the middle of the valley, her head dipped into the water of the small vibrant pond, unaware of her demise that would come at the hand of Lady Siobhan. Her arm pulled the string of her longbow back, her eyes darting back and forth as she aimed, and she let the arrow fly with a singsong sound as it flew through the air, and hit its mark. The doe fell, in an instant, and Siobhan was there to relinquish her arrow, and close her eyes, drop her head, and give thanks to its livelihood the meal her family and kin would be eating tonight. A sharp whistle summoned Aodh, and after situating the cervidae on his back, they made the trek home, to see the delight in their brethren's eyes.
