The city of Bordelaix was lovely, full of fascinating sights, people and events that invited Kattalin's interest at every turn. A season full of promise unfolded before the Ibarra family, thanks to the diverse gathering of nobles who answered the aging King's summons. The politics were also heating up with the arrival of the Sandovals, the forthcoming coronation of the King's eldest daughter as the Crown Heir, suggesting that these were indeed momentous times in which to be alive... and she was in the thick of it. In fact, if she was honest with herself, Kattalin was a part of it.
Zorion, Fede, Therese and Kattalin Ibarra were the focus of the two factions, Deveraux and Sandoval. Ideally positioned by dint of their home in Estersea, both factions desired their support. Zorion had made it abundantly clear that no swift decisions would be made; those who sought their support would pay dearly for it. In some regards, she was now in a difficult position with best friend and would-be suitor, yet Kattalin hoped that friendship would endure these tests for the good of all.
After nearly a week's time of being surrounded by land with no water in sight, Kattalin felt a near overpowering urge to seek out a large body of water. The sea was several days' ride away, an impossibility to be sure. Zorion would not allow her to travel so far without an escort and Therese could not be spared either. Remembering then that there was a large lake an hour or two north of the city, she decided it would suffice and made the arrangements to head north. After an extended discussion with Therese, she'd conceded to her Marshal cousin's demand that three of the Guard accompany her there and back.
The men were relatively unobtrusive, keeping her well within sight as she sat on one of the piers, slipping off boots and stockings to let her feet dangle in the water while she basked in the warmth of the sun. The feel of the lake's gentle waves lapping at her feet soothed her, calming her restlessness for now. Kattalin closed her eyes and sighed, enjoying the feeling of being relatively alone with the water...
