Aemrys had told Gwynver what had happened to their Aunt. He had spoken softly to her, explained things carefully and gently to her and told her what had happened at their home also. He cautioned her not to go alone to places from here on out, he cautioned her to be careful with whom she talked too and to make sure she was not out too early or too late. And she had nodded and listened and agreed to his requests. Amerys has always been something of a knight in shining armour to Vyn, though she had been closer to Will as a child. But Rys was kind and she liked that about him, he did not shut her out or treat her like a stupid child as so many other did. She had cried to hear of the attack on her home, knowing her family had been left behind. She worried to hear news of her sister’s wellbeing, of her father’s wellbeing – her thoughts went even to her mother, who Vyn had no affection for. She had prayed to The Maker for their safety.
But Rys had asked Vyn to do something important, and she felt swelled with the significance of the task he had given her. Their Aunt Eirian had not returned immediately to the house in Lavander Quarters, but had remained in the protection of the Connell Clan. Vyn knew Rys visited most daily- she did not know that the young lord saw Regan as often as he chose to see Eirian, of course, but knew that his visits would take a couple of hours and sometimes more. But today, he was not going, she was. Accompanied with a guard of four men, Vyn had ridden out to the inn where the Connell’s were staying. She had two meanings today. The first, and most important was to bring her aunt home with her, to return her to the blossom of her family. The second was to invite the Connell’s to dine with them. A way of thanks, a celebration and reward. It was something Rys had asked his mother to organise, the young lad seemed insistent on taking charge of this situation.
So, stepping down from the carriage she was asked to wait in the foyer, when she asked to have her arrival announced. Vyn assumed they knew she was coming, but that did not mean she felt any less nervous about all of this. Rys was trusting her and she was refusing to let him down…
