Although he found it odd to write to the woman once charged with the Crown of their Kingdom as anything less, it was the fact of the current matters. Aleksei was not interested in shirking propriety for the sake of whimsical wants and dreams, and would not risk having his letter intercepted and interpreted as treasonous. He would pay due fealty to King Dante Sandoval, but it didn't mean he'd forgotten those who had been a friend to Vasile when it needed a friend most.
To Her Grace, Duchess of Faucheux, Nicolette Deveraux,
Your Grace,
I hope this letter finds you in better health. Know that your recovery has been a matter of my prayers, and the safety of your family. May I also convey my sympathies for the injuries and losses those close to you have suffered.
The winter months have settled upon us and as I'm sure you've heard, so too has the plague. I find it incumbent to write in hopes that we may negotiate on the matter of relief for the people of Vasile, whose gracious assistance in the recent past has not been forgotten. Many of our food stores have burned in an effort to contain the sickness of our land and people, and trade has all but ceased. I can confirm to you that I am named Duke, it is my priority to urgently see to these matters and I act with all authority to facilitate these conversations.
With your consideration, I endeavour to find an agreement to be repaid with interest once the borders of the Duchy become secure once again. Or if you have interest in the bank of Oria, I have an account in good standing.
I look forward to receiving your response,
Lord Aleksei Orlov
