The ship from Anzio docked earlier in the day, allowing the Sandoval siblings to disembark and select an appropriate inn for the night. By mutual agreement, they would take their rest in the town before making the day and a half-long journey into Bordelaix. He wanted to give her time to rest, Dante insisted, and to allow them a chance to collect their thoughts, gird themselves for what lay ahead of them in the current capitol city of the kingdom. They had taken rooms in a quiet but clean inn that overlooked the water and the distant harbor, arranging for their evening meal to be brought to them to better ensure the quiet and privacy they preferred.
Standing by the window that revealed the rising moon, Angelia gazed unseeing over the landscape, her mind whirling with a thousand questions, possibilities and decisions. Despite decades of planning and preparations, she felt the uncertainty plague her, hovering over her like a dark cloud, leaving her to wonder if indeed the time had come, if the stars were properly aligned for the endeavor on which they were about to embark. Whether they were or not, the die was cast. Others who had gone ahead to lay the corners of the foundation build over the years were waiting for them. There was no turning back.
Her blue eyes were unseeing, her dark hair freed from the confining pins as a concession to the informality as she crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for her twin to join her. Scant attention, if any, was paid to the rich scents of soup, fresh bread and roasted meat behind her. Angelia doubted she would be able to consume more than a morsel or two, but she would do that much to stave off Dante's worry and the possibility of another attack infringing on her. He would join her soon... and then she would be reminded that they had a good plan.
This was no time for second thoughts.
