Casper had never thought to be so close to the Crown Princess. But there he was, and there she was; but ten or eleven metres away across the gardens. As he'd been their first, sat crossed legged under the tree since breakfast, solitarily watching the world go by, the guards had not taken it upon themselves to keep him at a further distance, to move him on even - preventing him from embarrassing or harming anyone important, as someone seemed to fear. Could it be that they had not yet noticed him?
Had it not been for the princess, Casper might have moved on. He'd exhausted all the daisies in his current vicinity, and the beaming sun's intensity was giving him a headache. That didn't distract him from his deeper ponderings, however. The Crown Princess was like Annemarie was to him, as a relation. His first cousin once removed. So strange what little difference it made. Markus had seen to it, that Annemarie was as off limits as was possible. Nicolette she was in a whole nother league. This, he knew, was as close he got.
He watched the blonde princess with fascination, glancing downward every few moments to hastily scribble notes upon his ledger. She was conversing with her ladies, nothing unusual there. Though to the keenest eye all did not look... well. There looked to be a very subtle nervousness in Nicolette's mannerisms, and she like he looked ever so pale. His eyes darted down once again, and he neatly scrawled the word 'gaunt' Underlining it twice.
When his eyes returned upward, the red-headed boy startled himself when he inadvertently caught the eye of the princess. 'Oh dear Solara!' What should he do? Say? Casper shuffled anxiously, but did not for a moment look away, keeping his pale blue eyes fixed across the gardens. Instead of doing, or saying anything, he simply grinned nervously at her. Like he always did.
