Decisions were being made regarding the future and the fates of the Deveraux family, and that included the King's own daughters. Nicolette had enjoyed her night's respite, but the next day found her once more at the helm of control. This morning's agenda included a meeting with her youngest sister, her uncle and the newest member of the Order of the Clavigers. Setting the time for post-breakfast but before anyone was truly engaged in their day's agenda, she requested that the trio meet in one of the atria in the gardens, the better to enjoy the day and keep the reaction in check.
Carlotta was present in a chaperon-esque role, seated under an arbor a slight distance away as she sewed industriously at an item of clothing that either came from Nicolette's own wardrobe or perhaps from Antoinette's. The Crown Princess herself was seated at a table with inkpot and quills, parchment and a pile of letters and reports delivered the day previously from Bordelaix. She worked quietly at the table. the items weighed down by random working articles needed, like her letter opener, seal, a small block of her sealing wax and oddly enough, a bracelet that was used out of necessity, making Nicolette smile at her own whimsy.
The morning sun filtered through the trees shading the atrium where she worked, reflecting off her dark gold hair as her head bent over the letter she read. Her father had recalled their cousin Henri and his family from Montenoire in anticipation of her elevation as heir on the heels of her invitation to the Remingtons. Presumably, they would arrive together, a benefit to both sides. Making a note, she glanced up to see who would be the first to arrive; the meeting in question concerned this very topic.
