The decision rendered to transition the Cadag family to Bordelaix was made in anticipation of the Princess Nicolette's official investiture as Crown Heir, requiring the siblings of the High Laird to accompany him. For Eirian, some years had passed since her last venture to the royal seat, leaving her woefully out of date on a number of levels. Desirous to rectify that situation, Eirian knew of two valid sources whereby she could update herself and prepare accordingly so to avoid personal and familial humiliation.
In soliciting the aid of her brother Artur and his wife Vittoria, she intended to plumb their opinions on the elevation of the King's eldest daughter over his nephew and to see where they stood on the likely impending battle over the throne. She herself was uncertain, feeling she lacked the necessary facts to form an educated opinion due to self-imposed exile to Vulcanis. Eirian had admittedly taken the passing of her betrothed very hard, her mourning period extending well past the year considered appropriate and customary. Thus, she had reached her twenty-fourth year and showed little likelihood of being wed soon, or indeed... ever.
Inviting the couple to join her for tea in the gardens, the table was set beneath a shady tree as the summer roses that were Regan's pride and joy bloomed and swayed in a light breeze. Eirian waited for them, hopeful of their company and a much-needed candid discussion before they parted ways to begin their preparations. The journey north would take some days; they did not have much time to linger on the details. Merthen had given them their marching orders, as it were and the departure details were already settled.
Glancing to the path by which she anticipated Artur and Vittoria, Eirian looked to see if they were on approach.
