Angelia found afternoon strolls through the Lavender Quarter to be efficacious to her purposes. As few to none knew who she was by face, she was presumed to be a noblewoman of a random, minor noble house and greeted politely, accepted as one who belonged among those who lived along these exalted avenues. The Sandovals had not yet declared their defiance of the Deveraux 'recommendation' that they hold no property in the city of Bordelaix, making it easy enough for her to enjoy the late summer days without undue strain on her.
Today, she followed a slightly different route, this one taking her past the property belonging to the Ibarra family. After her talks with Rafael and with Dante, Angelia wanted a chance to encounter Zorion Ibarra again and take her measure of him. Their last encounter had been some years ago, when she traveled south with Rosalinda's brother to escort her back to Nacimiento and made the brief acquaintance of the Warden. Much had changed during the intervening time, she knew; Zorion had married, produced an heir before death stole both of them, and other members of his family. Events of that devastation had a profound impact on those involved.
Rafael had spoken more of the Lady Kattalin than he had Lord Ibarra, a fact she found significant. What he'd divulged, however, told her that the Sandovals were dealing with a man who understood his worth and had no intentions of making mean bargains when he held considerable leverage. Angelia respected that, realizing that only serious and significant offers would be considered, much less accepted. If they were to secure the Marquess's support, she needed to speak with him, see his face and gain a fresh measure of the man.
Fortune smiled on her venture, her gaze landing on the lord himself as he stood outside of his home, deep in conversation with a servant of the house or a merchant. Angelia drifted closer, her ears tuned to catch the merest morsel, a smile flickering across her face as the other confirmed that the man was indeed Zorion Ibarra. She slowed her steps, reluctant to encroach on personal business, but when the servant bowed and hied off in obedience, her path towards him resumed.
At an appropriate distance, she hailed him politely. "My Lord Ibarra, this is a most pleasant surprise. I wonder, do you remember me?"
